He was holding a picture of his recently married son Kush and his daughter-in-law Kajal. ‘I can’t say anything. I lost my son,†said Summant Patel. Their cousins also drowned. Shivang and Jay Patel who are brothers were also swept under by heavy rip currents as they tried to save the couple who were struggling. A picture was posted on Twitter showing the aftermath. According to a Dominican newspaper, the group was in an area prohibited to swimmers because of the rip currents. But family members say they are being told there were no signs warning the victims to stay away. Shivang’s girlfriend and Jay’s wife were among those who watched the awful scene unfold. “The eight of them outside they were just watching. It was like in the seconds of time, they disappear,†said cousin Dhrupad Patel. According to family, the three men all went to Temple University.
I have swam/snorkeled in 200m deep sea in the Caribbean. The weight of the enormous amount of water is so overwhelming than swimming in a pool. I don't think I can do it again.:(( :fear:

I almost drowned in this scenic location and then realized that the dumb Thai tourist boats have no emergency procedure or any training for first time snorkelers. Im not getting into sea water without a life jacket ever again. PhiPhiIsland.jpg

it is very easy to survive rip currents if we know swimming and little stamina to swim for some 10 mins.. never experienced a rip but i read somewhere most of the drowning casualties in seashoe india is bcoz of rip currents

turns out yes he is the guy i know. was studying finance in nearby temple :/ i dont know whether i should get in touch with his friend i know to offer any condolences. only knew him as an acquaintance

You should. When my dad passed away, random people used to come and offer condolences. They knew him one way or the other. It helps the family grieving.
