Plan of bowling Short . Luck Or Masterstroke?

Nearly 70% of indias wickets are of bouncers and short of length deliveries. There seem to be an plan to bowl short of good length at body and use bouncer a over.Defending High totals and bowling under lights has helped but will this continue to work. In nz on shorter grounds its a huge risk .

The team will have to rethink the short ball tactic when it comes to some Australian/New Zealand or English batsmen. Short bowling was a bit excessive today on the Perth pitch..So we might have to show a bit more restraint. I still feel we have to use the short ball and the back of the length stuff to other batsmen but just a bit more judiciously. The size of these grounds and the presence of bowlers such as Yadav/Shami to exploit this tactic has also contributed. We'll be travelling to New Zealand for the remainder of the group games. But we might not face problems since we'll be facing weaker oppositions there..

Indian bowlers have pace,avg speed of all 3 combined is 140+ so it's a good ploy to use bouncers as a surprise delivery especially with long boundaries and 2 bouncer rule

Yes most English players aren't good against the short ball. But for some others like may be Root or Bell we might have to rethink.

And we wont be playing in New Zealand in the QF/SF. So don't have to worry about the shorter boundaries. We are all set to meeting Australia in semis. Even if AUS finishes third, we won't be playing SF in NZ assuming that we win the Qf

Yadav and shami have extra pace and on flat pitches its better than straying on offstump like we used to do earlier bowling at the body cramps them of room. Good think is it worked against sa who are good players of short bowling but in nz its harakiri on short grounds.If the pitch has something to offer will we be able to adapt that has to be seen .

It may work in your favour against sides not that good against short pitch stuff, but against sides like NZ, Aus SAF and Eng, Indian bowlers need to be fuller. Shami and Yadav has the extra mile to surprise the batsman and really hurry on. The short ball should be used sparingly hence.

It is both. The Windies game showed that India bowled the short ball well but also showed how bad the Windies batted. If anything you do this against SA, Australia and NZ it is not going to work. India did well against SA by bowling it in the corridor at a good length.

whats amazing is that Mohit is getting wickets bowling his 135 k thunder bolts,i dont know if it will keep working down the line but i am really surprised.
