The Outsider
Let's face it. With our pace bowling options reduced to Pathan, VRV Singh, and Ishant it seems a lost cause at Bangalore and India will need to wait another few years before defeating Pakistan in a test series in India. Pakistan have been touring India with progressively weakened sides the last couple of times and it's disappointing to see this happening. As usual, the pitch is going to be a featherbed at Bangalore with some spin coming into play on the last couple of days and there will be assistance for reverse swing. On the first 3 days our bowling attack will struggle to take Pakistan's wickets and they will pile up a huge first innings score regardless whether they bat first or second and will also have ammunition in Akhtar's reverse swing to bowl us out for something substantially less and wrap up the test match. Our only chance and hope is some great batting performance from the team where they can somehow score 550+ and ensure a draw. The other option of course is to send a SOS to Bal Thackrey and have the Bangalore pitch dug up so that it starts turning from the first ball and have three spinners operate on it and hope for a favorable result in a 3 day test. If it's the usual Bangalore track there will only be one winner in this match and the 28 year old jinx will continue. Link to comment
kabira
Kumble is captain, Kumble is local, somehow I think curator will listen to him and prepare ragging turner.. how come RP Singh is still injured, he was on the field on 5th day. Link to comment
The Outsider
Kabira, from cricinfo's latest report they expect the pitch to be a pancake. Short of working on the pitch with shovels, I don't see how it can be made into a raging turner over night. Link to comment
kabira
cricinfo knows jack$hit about the pitches. Normally they will ask curator and every curator in india says this "It will be good for batting until day 3, from there on it will turn on day 4 and day 5" Link to comment

Gambit
At the moment, the pitch doesn't look any different from the outfield. It's full of grass. Let's see if it's shaved off. Link to comment
Shehezaada
it does seem difficult but this is the ideal time for the youngsters to step up. With their pace and height, maybe VRV and Ishant can do the trick? Either way I have faith in our batsmen ,they seem to be in good form. Let's go India! Link to comment
The Outsider
From talks of a 3-0 whitewash we are reduced to hoping for a draw at Bangalore and somehow win the series 1-0. What a change in the scenario. Pakistan showed their character by drawing the last test when faced with injuries. It's time for India to show some character. Link to comment
chamatkar
Pathan does not have good memories of Pak in B'lore.. his last time around his returns for the test match were 1/150. Link to comment

The Outsider
Most Indian players have a very ordinary record at Bangalore : Kumble 35 wickets in 7 tests @ 31 Harbhajan 19 wickets in 4 tests @ 32 Pathan 1 wicket in 1 test @ 150 Dravid 165 runs in 5 tests @ 18 Tendulkar 496 runs in 6 tests @ 55 Ganguly 100 runs in 5 tests @ 11 Laxman 151 runs in 4 tests @ 25 Link to comment
coffee_rules
WTF do we even play in B'lore? We won the WC QF in '96 there. But it's bad for tests for India, Link to comment
The Outsider
We should ideally reserve Bangalore for flogging the likes of Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. Link to comment
Mandrake
I went to two tests in Bangalore Ind-Aus 2004 and Ind-Pak 2005. We lost both:cry_smile: This time I made sure I'm not in Bangalore:haha: Link to comment
coffee_rules
There is hope for India... Rain threat for Bangalore Test http://www.rediff.com/cricket/2007/dec/06rain.htm The weather forecast for the city on Saturday, the opening day of the Test, is heavy rain, with temperatures between 20 and 23 degrees celcius. The Met department also says the city will experience showers on Sunday too, with temperatures between 20 and 24 degrees celcius. Since Bangalore is situated at high altitude, it could experience rain throughout the week. There could be a serious problem with the light also, as Bangalore has been experiencing a weather change thanks to a trough of low depression off the Tamil Nadu coast. These days the light in the city fades by around 1500 IST, and by 1700 hours it gets really dark. The organisers are keeping their fingers crossed. In case it rains, there may be only a three-day game as the forecast for Monday is good, the met department pointed out. Link to comment
