I am all for playing hard cricket and bowling bouncers. But the fact remains that it can hurt a batsman, especially a #11. When the other team has no chance of winning the game and you are bowling 150 kph bouncer to a #11, your intentions are not noble. I tell you what and this comes from being involved with NSW Cricket when Hughes went through, he would dead set laugh at you. It was a 1 in a billion accident. Oh it can hurt someone....lets just bowl underarm then? Seriously. Batsmen already get every single restriction. You take away the bouncer, bowlers might as well stay at home especially in ODI's or T20's. Yadav bowled bouncers all day...he copped 2 short balls.....he bowled more bumpers in his bowling. Stop the whinge.

For the last time, the match wasn't over. You play the way from ball 1 to the last ball of the day. I would be more than annoyed if we go soft on tailenders because they 'might get hurt'. They have more padding than a NFL linebacker available, use it.

Well it may have been unnecesarry and perhaps intention was to hurt Yadav but maybe Starc is not someone who wants to be the "good guy" or play within spirit of the game the way you describe it. In your eyes and maybe many others he may be the bad guy. But why should being the bad guy bother him? At the end of the day he got the result he wanted. Good for him. End of story.
Yamaha Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Nothing wrong with bowling bouncers at tailenders, it makes them more susceptible to yorkers as they tend to hang onto the backfoot expecting short stuff every ball. Although Umesh should remember this incident the next time he sees Starc on a cricket field and look for payback.

The poor tailender is not skilled enough to negotiate a yorker, what if his toe gets crushed and starts to bleed? There's a one in a million chance that his toe needs to be amputated off. This should also be included as part of the code.

They were all a sea of tears for Phil Hughes and even all the Indians on this forum were sad. We now see how much they actually care for players safety when a team is about to lose by 100 runs and a tail ender is batting.
