Gollum Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Kohli must be given a proper dressing down by coaching staff, seniors, past greats, media, fans. Guy is over rated, isn't half as good as he thinks he is, rude, arrogant, disrespectful and no way is he captaincy material. Give Ashwin the captaincy FFS and kick out Duncan,Shastri and all those whose names are in Mudgal report.
vayuu1 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 The order in which ppl need to be replaced imo 1. Dhoni (needs replacement, has gone past his sell by date. Potential source for captiancy conflicts),time to bring in sanju samson . 2. Jadeja (can't believe this guy plays for India, doesn't bat, darts a bit and fields well. He just doesn't have the talent),parvez rasool and rishi Dhawan could be better option. 3. Rohit Sharma - mental midget, minnow basher, does not take singles, selfish player. Occupies a critical position in the batting lineup where he does more harm than good.i say open with sanju samson or bring vijay as opener 4. Dhawan - hack. All his innings are too chancy, and is mostly found out against better teams.no need to change big tournament player 5. Rahane - His technique is class, but doesn't seem to be cut out for one day cricket. Does not have power, nor really the ability to improvise. Just a definition of a text book batsmen.agree on this manoj tiwari might be a better option bowls handy leg spin too 6. Raina - Limited in skill unfortunately.he is a clutch player 7. Bhuvi - Probably the most skillful bowler we have but he just does not have the pace. We should groom chama milind ,bumrah and avesh khan Or bowlers like ram dayal. Unfortunately there is no real talent knocking in the sidelines to replace these guys. Aaron maybe, just because he has pace. But he seems a inferior version of Umesh Yadav as far as cricketing brains are concerned, and that must be humiliating. Fixed.
Yamaha Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Rishi Dhawan piles up runs and takes wickets against the weaker teams in his group. That maybe true but I've watched him bowl live in a few domestic matches and the IPL and he does fit the role of bowling allrounder.

govinda Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 iam a dhoni fan but i think its time for msd to call it quits make virat captain try guys like ciriappa skuldeep and cahal make sure that umesh and varun play every game
Sidhoni Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Rahane is class. He will come good eventually, will learn a lot from this WC.
tweaker Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Rishi Dhawan piles up runs and takes wickets against the weaker teams in his group. Now Rishi is playing in north zone Syed Mustaqali T20 tournament against strong teams like Delhi,Haryana,J&K .He is consistent with bat scoring 51*,41* & taking 2,3 wickets in every match.I think because of his performance HP a weak team has defeated stronger team like Delhi,J& K.I think Rishi should be looked as a bowler who can bowl in the middle overs & batsman who can bat at no 4.I think he is not a slogger but a good technically sound batsman who can bat at no 4 position
BlueBee Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 ^ I am pretty sure you didn't watch the Irani Final. Guy seemed like getting out anytime when he is on strike (His scores were pathetic for a all rounder in a flat pitch) Didn't even bowled well. Took 1 or 2 in the whole match IIRC and was trundling at around 120ks. You don't want someone like that in your national team.
MK55 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 IPL can be used to screen out an explosive batsman. Rahane/Rayaddu haven't consolidated their places. Rahane is a good player and should not be discarded. But still there is room for one such explosive batter in the squad. Now this player MUST also be good against the short ball else he'll be found out at the international level Jadeja has been useless. He might come good on sub continent pitches. But we should also look out for bowling all rounders with the power game. Again the emphasis on power. This is crucial considering the nature of contemporary cricket. If that all rounder is a seamer then so be it. I get the impression that MS does not want a seamer as the bowling all rounder. He has been quite vocal about this in the press conference as well. This definitely has to change Finally get Aaron in the ODIs. He can be groomed into a strike bowler. We need bowlers who can take wickets than just being able to contain runs. Aaron can be valuable in the middle overs. If he stays too long toiling in domestic cricket, I fear we'll lose him.
ShebbySB Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Rohit,Dhawan,Kohli,Kedar,Raina,Dhoni,Jadeja,Ashwin,Shami,Yadav,Mohit.I'll stick with Jadeja as we've no other options.I'll try Rishi & Binny then keep any 1 in the squad based on their performance.Other squad players will be Rayudu,Aaron,Axar & Samson.Rahane should only play tests like Pujara.
ShebbySB Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Test side:- Murli,Rahul,Pujara,Kohli,Rahane,Rohit,Saha,Ashwin,Aaron,Ishant,Yadav. Reserves:-Mukund,Jackson(wk),Karun Nair,Jadeja,Rishi,Shami.
vipin Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Apart from Dhoni (who is 33), no one else in the current side is more than 29 years old. This means that virtually the whole side can play unchanged in the 2017 world cup. The new developing talent should be used to replace the weak links in this current team. Which would be Rahane, Jadeja and Mohit Sharma. We should aspire to have an ODI team for the 2017 world cup that looks something like this. (Assuming no significant dip in form of these players) 1: Rohit 2: Dhawan 3: Kohli 4: Dhoni(or Replacement wk batsman) 5: Raina 6: Someone in the mold of Glen Maxwell 7: Spin bowling all-rounder + lower order hitter 8: Pace bowling dasher In the mold of Faulkner 9: Ashwin 10: Shami 11: Yadav
zep1706 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I don't think there is any need for drastic changes. Let's be honest. Australia, in their home conditions are a much better team. The next big tournaments are not going to be in Australia. Even Jadeja would be a lot more effective outside Australia. We need a power hitter in the middle over to accompany Raina. Other than that, I think it is still a very good side.

We don't have the depth other teams such as Aussies have lower down the order and neither do we have power hitters down the order. SA have Millers, ABDV, Aus has a factory of those and even Kiwis are well positioned with Colin Anderson, Jimmy Neesham, Ronchi etc. If we don't improve and upgrade we will be left behind. All we have is Raina down the order and if he fails we can't get quick runs. Plus a couple of pace all-rounders would come in handy as well. The game has moved on and we can't play with Jaddu and 4 bowlers who are bunnies. We look like a team from 80s or 90s which isn't a good thing.

Ultimate_Game Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I did say that we need to find a power hitter. Couple of power hitters and couple of all-rounders. Lack of depth in batting is holding us back from getting a total closer to 330 and we had to settle for a score around 300 in the WC.
vvs_Sree Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 We missed a left arm fast bowler this world cup. irfan pathan should be given another chance. Varon umesh shami bhuvi all rounders binny irfan
Ultimate_Game Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 We missed a left arm fast bowler this world cup. irfan pathan should be given another chance. Varon umesh shami bhuvi all rounders binny irfan Irfan is past his sell by date and by 2019 he wouldn't be around. As for Binny he's not an all-rounder and I would rather see Rishi Dhawan get a chance unless we unearth a couple of hard hitting fast bowling allrounders.

Irfan started playing ranji and has consistently picked 1-3 wickets and made 20-50 runs in last few matches. He could replace Binny.I hope he does well for CSK in IPL and get picked for World T20 and ODI team. He could bring in left arm pace variation and big match temperament.
