Hayden Tendulkar Richards Miandad Symonds Dhoni © (wk) Klusener/Vettori Warne Lee Akram Mcgrath Vettori in sub-cont.
I would love to have AB/Ponting in place of Miandad, and Murali instead of Warne.

Pisses me off the lack of love for Gilchrist around here, the Indian press nicknamed him the destroyer during an Indian tour FFS, such nicknames aren't handed out that often. He was the most feared batsan in the world for near on a decade in ODIs, and he distributed pain like no other as a test batsman.

I think Hayden is better

But Haydo's didn't keep as well' date=' when it comes to value Gilly is no1, beware of imitations.[/quote'] Dhoni perfectly fits at 6, the best finisher ever in ODI cricket.

Only a complete idiot would leave Gilchrist out of a world eleven, LOL at some people choosing Dhoni infront of him, Gilchrists light years infront of Dhoni as a bat and a ODI player.

Forget about picking a world Eleven' date=' you could pick 3 Aussie teams that would beat the rest of the world 100 times over.[/quote'] True, you don't win 3 WCs in a row whilst being the best test nation the world has seen without having absolute superstars.

... and only an Aussie would say that! Its a close thing, Dhoni at 6 is the best lower middle order bat of all time even if Gilly was a better WK than he is

Sehwag was a far more impactful test batsman than Gilchrist. Its one thing to come and smash a 50 off of 50 balls when the score is 350/4. Its a totally different planet to smash a 50 off of 50 opening the batting and putting the team at 100/1 after 20 overs on day1 of a test. The latter is far, far more impactful and you know it. Just your 'aussie-ness' prevents you from appreciating the realities of test cricket.

Massive Lol at this. Even their averages are quite similar' date=' Jayasuriya was a player who could play vital knocks and high pressure knocks than Shewag. As usual Mugal lol puts out Lol statements. Jayasuriya was a class above Shewag as a bowler, because he was fit, bowl his 10 overs, and bowled match after match, rather than a unfit player like Shewag. Lol, 300+ wickets vs how much?[/quote'] Sehwag has several high pressure monster knocks too. Between Sehwag and Jayasurya the batsman, its Sehwag and its not very close.Sehwag averages 35+ with 104 strike rate, Jayasurya has 32 at 91. Sehwag was also a better away batsman than Jayasurya. Its no contest that Jayasurya is a better fielder than Sehwag or that he is a better bowler. But they are moot points because Sehwag was a good slip fielder, Jayasurya was not. An ODI lineup featuring the likes of Akram,Kapil, Ambrose, Donald, Warne would require a slipper at all times and thats where Sehwag goes, largely mitigating his poor ground fielding. Also, an ODI XI of all-time has Sachin and Viv as the 6th and 7th bowlers, making Jayasurya's bowling redundant. LOL at Mahanama- he was a good fielder by subcontinental standards but he wasn't in the same league as the Saffie fielders, Azharuddin or the Kiwi fielders. No, not so easily as i demonstrated above. Err, Viv was a part of the paker series too. When the Aussie greats were available, so were the West Indies greats and vice versa. For full strength squads, the 75-85 period had the West Indies as clear #1 and the Aussies as clear #2. Paksitan had the best bowling attack in the ODIs in the 90s when Wasim,Waqar, Aaqib, Saqlain, Mushie, Akhtar were in the mix. In the late 80s they were the 2nd best attack after the west indies but the early 80s and 70s, the Aussies were easily a better attack than the Pakistanis.

Every batsman who's played 75+ tests has rescued his team at some point or another. Gilly was a devastating batsman, no questions asked but it is disingenuous to say he is the most feared batsman- he is not, Sehwag was. This is because a guy batting at 85 strike rate and 50 average opening the batting is way ,way scarier than a guy batting at #7 at slightly lower strike rates and averages. half of Gilly's big knocks came when the Aussies were already at 350/4 or 400/4 kinda thing, where the opposition is already worn down. Doing the 120 ball 100 against fresh opposition, new ball and juicy pitch on day1 cannot be topped by the guy doing it after lunch on day2 with the scores approaching 400.
