zubinpepsi Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Seems to be a hot topic now a days.. I was talking to one of my cousin whos planning to go back to India for good.. He said he wants to see/bring some changes in India.. one of them was women empowerment.. I asked him what does he mean by that.. He said that women can work from home; making employment opportunity for women.. when i asked him further why he wants women to work from home.. does he think women shouldnt/ cant go out and work . He said as for him work from home espcially for ladies is empowering them.. when they are financially independent , empowerment follows.. I however dont agree with his views that financial independence will empower women in a country like india.. there is more to it than just financial independence.. What do our ICF'ers think about this women empowerment.. What exactly women empowerment means... whats your intrepretation of this??
beetle Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Financial empowerment is a major step..... Giving the choice to work from home is also another major step.It is a relief for those who have to often give up working because they have no choice but to stay at home to take care of home.It is a half way step up. The idea is to add to choices without taking away any previous ones.
CSK Fan Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Thankfully most private companies in India are already following many of the steps mentioned in the OP and more are on the way WFH is such a boon in a country like India (not only for women). You avoid the endless traffic, the hassle of public transport, the long commute hours and being away from your kids for so long.

If he really wants to empower women then he should help women of small town or villages rather than setting up in big hi fi city
beetle Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 If he really wants to empower women then he should help women of small town or villages rather than setting up in big hi fi city Again...why this or that.....?
Tiger80 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Again...why this or that.....? Just saying thatwomen in small towns and villages need much mmore financial empowerment that those living in big cities as they already has many options.
Muloghonto Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 If he really wants to empower women then he should help women of small town or villages rather than setting up in big hi fi city Doesn't work that way. Cities are the drivers of social change, not the country-side. Unless your society is a nomadic one, its always more effective to spread an idea from city to the countryside than vice versa.
