Squeeze them financially.Move few the attack corps to the border,Pakistan will have to do the same.Such a large deployment will require buge financial outflow while we can take the hit the Pakistani economy will feel a far bigger shock.With a large part of their army involved againist TTP they will have to redeploy troops and their army and resources will be stretched.Keep them on the edge.Make sure there is a massive retaliation to even a single firing from Pakistani side. Use our superior financial and conventional strength againist them.Right now Pakistan doesnt pay any cost for financing terror in India make them pay the cost. If it were so easy, we'd be doing it for the last 50 years, no ? The idea above works, but it requires a tighly aligned political landscape as a whole. The Pakistanis, like everyone else, are not stupid. If we deploy troops but ultimately do nothing, they will figure it out eventually as posture, leave a skeleton 'early warning' crew on their borders and it would cost like 1% of the army budget, which would translate to no impact on their economy. This isn't to say we should invade them either. The trick is to 'posture'. Posturing requires a political process. Call it the 'slow cooker' of politics. For this to work, our politicians need to adopt a fine line of menacing (without threatening), being ominous without being obvious. And that we cannot do. Sooner or later, some politician from our side will 'respond' to douchy questions and 'escalate'. Soon, the 'N-word' gets tossed around, then the whole world sits up, demands we do whatever it takes to defuse the situation, which means send the army home and not camped out at the borders. To sustain it, we have to be a tight-lipped political landscape with 'we confirm or deny nothing' type of interviews. Because the moment a politician starts to talk about 'teaching them a lesson, etc' with the army camped at the border, its game over. IMO we need a much more diplomatically hostile posture towards Pakistan. We don't have to go to war, it doesn't even enter the picture. But we should take a more 'we hate your guts, now feck off' attitude on the diplomatic platform instead of 'we are the understanding older brother here to hold your hand'. Oppose them at everything, make them EARN whatever capabilities they have. For eg, we should make it clear to our foreign military suppliers that we won't do business with them if they simultaneously do business with Pakistan. That would make a difference. Perhaps modijee should scrap the 500 Crore GAIL Gas pipeline he proposed to gift Pakistan last year . " Aug 2014 Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed parliament earlier this month that negotiations are underway between GAIL India and the Inter State Gas Systems (ISGS) of Pakistan for supply of five million metric standard cubic metres a day (MMSCMD) of lean gas to Pakistan for a period of five years. Under this proposal, GAIL would lay 110 km pipeline from Jalandhar to the Amritsar-Attari border. The technical feasibility of laying the gas line up to Lahore has already been ironed out after five rounds of negotiations between both sides. Liquefied natural gas, or LNG, will be imported through terminals in Maharashtra or Gujarat and then moved through GAIL's existing pipeline network up to Jalandhar. Not only legal system, there is no intent to investigate at all. Poilce or judges doing anything will be killed off or disappear. It's a gone case there. India will just release the poisonous stuff in our upstream rivers at the border and it is 1000 times more than any nuclear weapons. 100 generations will not be even able to grow grass on the land and no human can live there in the entire geography for centuries. India will obviously not disclose it but US and Israel ( our trusted all weather-ally) know it IMO and they are OK with this arrangement. If they don't act tough then they would have proven that they are as pusillanimous as UPA. As for the release from prison - honestly, that doesn't make much of a difference since he obviously was enjoying all facilities/contact with other terrorists etc inside as well.
