btw in aurangabad 10 of the 16 others have gone back to the Sena or the BJP so the total strength of the combine is 61 out oh a house of 113. With those who joined after winning its a case of BJP 28 Sena 33. Sena will get the mayors post for 4 years BJP 1. In return BJP will get standing committee chairman for 4 years and Sena 1 year. Previously BJP had put up a mayor for election along with the sena. Which caused potential votes to be split and a MIM mayor sneaking through. However pressure from Raosaheb Danve (BJP president Maharashtra) and Uddhav thakarey has meant the local leaders have settled. MIM have managed to attract the BSP. There are rumours of a pan maharashtra alliance between the two. However there appears to be major faction emerging within the MIM people are saying that a lot of their corporators might vote for the congress candidate. (who is a muslim) Will be interesting to see who votes for whom. If the MIM vote is split in the mayoral vote there is a good chance the MIM will fizzle out before they became anything in maharashtra. Maharashtra is a hard place for parties to grow. Raj T can testify.

BJP, which had put up a candidate for the mayoral poll after initial talks between the two parties did not yield a 'satisfactory' solution for power sharing, pulled out of the mayoral race. Tupe bagged 71 votes in the house of 113 members, defeating dalit corporator Gangadhar Dhage of MIM, who polled 26 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which has 5 corporators in the civic body, backed Tupe.Congress candidate Afsar Khan got 13 votes. Tupe, who became the 20th Mayor of Aurangabad, said his priorities will be to provide clean water, good roads and improve sanitation in the city. Rathod who join BJP three months, got 70 votes for the deputy mayor's post, defeating MIM's Feroz Khan who secured 26 votes. Congress candidate Bhausaheb Jagtap got 13 votes.
http://www.mid-day.com/articles/shiv-sena-man-elected-aurangabad-mayor/16174162 so the mim was not able to get the bsp onside. however they have managed to avoid factionalism between themselves.

I am from hyderabad too and agree with what Kalia has posted about MIM but i think they wont succeed in other states...In hyderabad too, they are often at the mercy of the governing party and hardly have any influence outside the old city..Even in parts of the old city where hindus are majority they have no huge influence...for example Goshamahal constituency...BJP MLA Raja Singh has rallied against them sucesfully..check out you tube videos of Sri ram navami yatra and others by Raja singh in old city...

Asaduddin Owaisi questions Bharat Ratna to Atal Bihari Vajpayee What is wrong with this guy? The real question is how can a family which has the blood of Indian soldiers/civilians on its hands(Razakar movement 1946-48) be allowed into the democratic process? http://www.indiatvnews.com/politics/national/asaduddin-owaisi-questions-bharat-ratna-to-atal-bihari-vajpayee-28881.html Azam Khan tells Muslims in UP to unite against Asaduddin Owaisi This will be fun :popcorn:http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-others/azam-khan-tells-muslims-in-up-to-unite-against-asaduddin-owaisi/#sthash.HJAKf4bh.dpuf

Owaisi among top 3 best parliamentarians :hatsoff:
Asaduddin Owaisi, the Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) chief, who has been often accused of playing communal card for political mileage, has been rated among top three best performers in the last Lok Sabha.
Asaduddin Owaisi was also selected for the 'Sansad Ratna award 2014' for his impressive performances in the Lok Sabha.
The book notes that top leaders such as Congress president Sonia Gandhi, her son and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Samjawadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and 52 others are the worst performers, who didn't ask a single question in the last 15th Lok Sabha. Sonia and Rahul also appear poorly in terms of spending less than 50% time in the House, while Congress member K P Thanapalan registered 100% attendance. Mulayam topped the seniors with maximum 85% presence in the House.

Maharashtra: AIMIM opposes memorials for all political leaders For the 1st time in my life I agree with them. - The Hyderabad-based All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has strongly opposed the construction of a memorial dedicated to late BJP leader Gopinath Munde in Aurangabad district. - The memorial is proposed on a two-acre stretch of prime government land belonging to the government milk scheme project on the Kranti Chowk-Jalna Road in Aurangabad. - “The BJP government should not waste public land worth hundreds of crores of rupees for memorials to political leaders. Instead, if they really wish to honour Mr. Munde, then they [the BJP leaders and their followers] ought to contribute money to buy private land for the memorial,” Mr. Jaleel said. - The MIM leader further said that if the BJP really wanted to pay homage to their leader, they should build a hospital for the poor on the proposed site. “At a time when the deprived in the State do not have proper access to medical amenities, how can this [bJP-Sena] government think of wasting money for erecting memorials,” remarked Mr. Jaleel. - A day after stirring the controversy by opposing the proposed memorial of BJP leader, the late Gopinath Munde, in Aurangabad, AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel has now come up and said that including a memorial for Bal Thackeray, no memorial should be built on government properties. http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-maharashtra-now-aimim-opposes-memorials-for-all-political-leaders-2093087 http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/telangana/mim-opposes-construction-of-munde-memorial-in-aurangabad/article7288343.ece http://indianexpress.com/article/cities/mumbai/mim-objects-to-land-allotment-for-munde-memorial-wants-hospital-instead/ http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/aurangabad/MIM-opposes-Munde-memorial-on-prime-government-land/articleshow/47548411.cms

2. The Razakars (volunteers), a Muslim paramilitary organization aimed at resisting merger with India, was linked to the MIM. In total up to 150,000 Razakar soldiers were mobilized to fight against the Indian Union and for the independence of the Hyderabad State against Indian integration. After the integration of the Hyderabad state with India, the MIM was banned in 1948. The Razakar leader Qasim Rizvi was jailed from 1948 to 1957, and then he was released on the condition to go to Pakistan, where he was granted asylum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Razakars_%28Hyderabad%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_integration_of_Hyderabad
This same question was asked in the TV program from Assadudin Awaisi. And he gave exact answer to it that: 1) He has nothing to do with the Razakars. The Razakars went to Pakistan, but his parents didn't while they considered themselves Indians. 2) And secondly, no one has right to do injustice to any one, but when you talk about the HISTORY and then about Razakars, then you must also put forward the crimes by other Side, instead of hiding their crimes. And full justice is what has been told in the Report of Pundit Sundar Lal Committee. This Committee report is telling that 50,000 Muslims were massacred and Pundit Sundar Lal wording were: "It was the first Genocide in Independent India". Please listen to his complete answer (where he is raising more Questions to at 21:00) wS9Mpal5AvE PS: In another TV show, a person asked Asadudin Awaisi very important question about the Muslim Rulers of India. I asked that same question in separate thread here, but Mods deleted it. I am sorry if I have gone against any forum rule, but it would be nice if Mods could tell me which rule I am breaking by asking a question which is already in Public Domain via Indian TV Channel. Thanks.

AIMIM opens office in Mysuru, enrols 4,500 workers http://www.deccanherald.com/content/482823/aimimamp8200opens-office-mysuru-enrols-4500.html

The All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by the Owaisi brothers, said on Wednesday that the party would take up a massive membership drive in the State’s cultural capital in future. The party has already roped in 4,500 members and has opened an office at Bannimantap in the city. There are plans to open offices in 20 wards where the organisation has pinned hopes of getting support from the people. Addressing mediapersons here, Nabeel Mohammed Khan, president of the AIMIM city and district units, said, “Though the focus now is on the elections to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike in the State, the party is keen on contesting elections to other local bodies, including Mysuru, in future”. Khan sought to clear the public perception that the party was working for the welfare of a particular community, as the party was actually striving for the welfare of dalits, backward classes and downtrodden communities. He alleged that the Congress, especially its leaders from minority communities, were creating hurdles for AIMIM, fearing erosion of their vote bank.
Owaisi saab is expanding his party in Karnataka :yay:

AIMIM to go it alone in Hyderabad civic polls http://www.business-standard.com/article/pti-stories/aimim-to-go-it-alone-in-hyderabad-civic-polls-115071200592_1.html

AIMIM will go it alone in the forthcoming Hyderabad civic body polls, its president Asaduddin Owaisi said today and urged dalits and backward castes to support the party. "Our party will go it alone in the elections of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)," Owaisi, who is also Hyderabad MP, said here today. "There will not be an alliance with any other party," he said while addressing a meeting of Party Primary committee president and workers at the headquarters of All India Majlis e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) here. Those who believe in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's ideology would support AIMIM as the so-called secular parties are antagonists of Dalits, Muslims and backward classes (BC), he alleged. "It should be ensured that most number of Dalits and BC candidates are elected on AIMIM ticket," he said. The GHMC elections are scheduled to take place in December 2015. On the ongoing strike by the municipal sanitary workers in Hyderabad, the MIM chief said the civic body is responsible for sanitation and employees have resorted to strike as it failed to keep its promises. He also urged the municipal unions to call off the strike. "People are facing inconvenience and unbearable stench is coming from garbage scattered on roads across the twin cities (Hyderabad and Secunderabad) during the holy month of Ramzan," he said.
New strategy by AIMIM - Have been noticing how frequently Owaisi is clubbing Muslims + Dalits/OBCs in every statement and speech he is making.
