I am bloody impressed by the young crop of Bangladeshi batsmen. Solid technique, fearlessness, awareness of match situation, understanding of the modern day dynamics of cricket... they have it all. In Tamim, Soumya, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur, Shakib, Sabbir and Nasir you guys have one of the best batting line ups in LOIs at least. comfortably the 2nd best batting order after India from the subcontinent(especially after the retirements of Sanga-Jaya). Most of these guys are quite young and sky is the limit for them. I am pretty sure that they will do well in test cricket too. Tamim has regained his mojo of old, Mahmudullah showed his class in the WC and Mushfiqur is the one of the best WK batsman in the world. But the real gem amongst them is Sarkar, we saw his enormous potential in the WC but he didn't score too many runs. Today the way he treated Hafeez, Junaid, Riaz, Gul was majestic brutality, never have I seen a 20 year old play shots like he did(not since Sachin at least) . There are still things for him to work on, especially his temperament, his shot selection and lack of footwork against fast bowlers but the promise is huge. Hope the 4 guys I mentioned above go on to play county cricket and learn more about themselves and the game(County is the still the finishing school for youngsters, not this IPL/BBL/CPL trash). To Bangladeshi ICFers how is the reserve crop of batsman waiting in the ranks, any special talent amongst them or are they a rung below these 4 top order bats?

I think Liton Kumar Das is the next big Bangladeshi batting talent. He was by far the best batsman in first class cricket this season and averaged more than 50 in the U-19 World at Australia in 2012.
riasat Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 We dont have a mighty bench just yet... there will be in 3-4 years once some of the new bunch of U19 graduates to better things. So we have Liton and Anamul only for now. Anamul is a little slow in his batting for my liking. But they are both excellent keepers too. So if mushfik is injured than one of them can easily replace him. Beside the two, we have some bits and pieces players (nothing great for now) Liton Kumar is the best we have, but our idiot selectors chose Rony talukdar instead on the 15 .. Utter disgrace selection, the guy is no good.

You might be interested in the fact that currently we are playing an U-19 7-match series with SA, and we are leading 5-1.

Somewhere I read that among U-19 sides Bangladesh is producing the best batting talent. In this team I see the Lanka of the 90s. A couple of good bowlers( Taskin, Rubel are good but need to step up even more, spin department looks okish, nothing great) and this team may win CT/WC in Asia in the coming 10 years.
Zero_Unit Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Lets assume that they continue their batting like this, do you guys think Shakib will retain his top allrounder position in the chart? I doubt it ... all these times, he was more standout because the rest sucked. Now that the rest are taking over, his performance is barely noticeable. If am not mistaken, I think he only batted like 5-10 overs throughout whole series. But regardless, that was some THRASHING no doubt.
gazza Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Mosaddek hossain is a young guy doing well and was pretty good in u19s, mustafizur Rahman is the next big pacer hope, currently in the t20 squad. From u19s there is nazmul hossain shanto (batsman, pacer), saleh ahmed shawon (spinner) and zakir hasan (keeper batsman). Nurul Hasan is a solid keeper batsman, more a keeper than a batsman but he's got the batsmen keeper in mushy, liton, anamul etc to compete with. Mushy is already quality, sabbir is going to be very good as well, mominul is another one who should keep getting better, nasir pretty decent as well and obviously shakib is a very good player. I'd expect liton to be the next big batsmen for them, hopefully sarkar will keep going but he wasn't particularly consistent before getting his national call up.
