sensible-indian Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 ZC at one point of time suspended the tour.PCB arm twisted them. Its shameful that ICC is letting this happen and standing doing nothing as players are being forced to tour. How do you know its arm twisting? We don't know. PCB doesn't have any clout (or is in any position) to do any arm twisting. Zimbabwe's own government is not for this tour so there is no way PCB can arm twist ZC into going ahead. Fact is ZC always wanted more and more money. PCB probably just gave them a deal they wouldn't normally get which made ZC force its reluctant players to tour. Fault lies with Zimbabwe who are threatening some of their players with dire consequences.

KeyboardWarrior Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 This tour will mean nothing. No one will tour Pakistan because Zimbabwe did. and how many times you need to repeat same thing in every single thread .... :cantstop:

G_B_ Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 lets stick to cricket. At the very least Zim board needs to give their players the choice those who want to tour should tour. Those who dont should not. Nobody should have a gun (metaphorical) pointed to their head. I get a feeling that Zim cricket board is basically saying to the players, if you dont tour your career is over. That needs to be avoided.
Invasion 550 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 75 per cent of the tickets have been sold already. :D
Malcolm Merlyn Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Your idea that I must be a Pakistani to understand a simple hindi sentence' date=' shows your IQ level..dolt:facepalm:[/quote'] why are you so ashamed of your nationality?
HippoSucks Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Both boards are to blame. Zimbabwe Cricket Board doesn't have much money. This is a good oppotunity for them to make some money and be stronger financially, so you can't call them greedy. But if the players don't want to go, you shouldn't be forcing them. PCB shouldn't be putting monetary incentive in front of ZCB either, IMO. This series isn't going to suddenly revolutionize cricket in their country, so it isn't worth risking the lives of many cricketers.
DilSePakistani Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Nervous time for us...it would have been better had the tour been canceled...
Ironhide Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Forcing the ZIM players to sign indemnity forms and threatening their careers is absolutely pathetic.
HippoSucks Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Nervous time for us...it would have been better had the tour been canceled... Have to feel for fans from across the border in this case. They have been longing for a match in their country for 6 years and clearly deserve to see their players in an international match live. But if something goes even slightly wrong, international cricket will be gone from the country for at least a decade most likely. :(( Would have been better to cancel the tour for a few years until the situation in the country is a little better.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Nervous time for us...it would have been better had the tour been canceled... Hope all goes well.

I really dont think a lot of those players are willing to tour. Its more like they are being pushed into this. If it works out thats fine, but you cant just push people into touring. If i was the PCB maybe i would not have pushed the matter once the Zim gov came out and said they were against it. It makes more sense for pakistan to invest in a stadium far away from the cities in the middle of nowhere which can be much better policed. That IMO would probably be a long term solution.

I don't think the location of the stadium matters to the players as long as it is in a country which frequently occurs from terrorist attacks and has a history of cricketers being attacked. I'm sure the Karachi attack was what caused ZCB to call of the tour for half a day, even though Lahore is a good 700 miles away. All the players know is that they are going into a country which recently suffered from a terrorist attack and don't pay attention to geographic subtleties.

Post mumbai 2008 , KP did allay fears and play in stable Chennai. About 1500 km apart? So it can be achieved. I think even before 2009 incident, the New Zealanders did not want to tour pakistan cause a bomb went off in the restaurant they were staying in. Even south africa cancelled the tour of SL i do believe due to a LTTE scare. The problem for the PCB is they are probably 5-6 international standard stadiums. So hosting is limited to realistically a few cities. If those cities are affected then there are major problems. The only solution is to build far away from the cities. Take for example Gahunje. Its located half way between mumbai and pune in the middle of no where. With an airport within 1 hour as well. Pakistan need some place like that.

But India didn't have a trend of such attacks occurring, so while England was contemplating the tour, they still completed it. They didn't have a trust issue with India's security either, as no incident had occurred involving cricketers there before. Whereas in Pakistan a similar incident has already occurred on cricketers. Pakistan unfortunately has a trend of such terrorist attacks occurring, so despite the geographic distance, if it occurs in one city, it can occur in another.

All i am saying is pakistan needs to pick a stadium outside traditional cities and build a stadium in the middle of no where.
