Watched highlights of the match. "Precision Hitting" would get much more prominence in Tennis lexicon if Wawrinka keeps playing like this for few more tournaments. The way he keeps making ball land just inside baseline and tramlines consistently is just amazing.

Stan is such an up and down player, mainly down hence the reason he has such lopsided records vs all the top guys. I'm with Zep his history and the style of tennis means it's unlikely he'll go deep at Wimbledon. I wouldn't be surprised if the next 4 slams go like this for Stan. R2 - SF - Final - R1.

I never for a minute thought that there would be a stage in their careers when Murray and Wawrinka would be tied for the # of slams they have. Do you folks think is it because Murray is an underachiever/has been overrated/Wawrinka is an overachiever/has been underrated or a combination of the 4 ?

Murray's 2nd serve is the reason.

Murray has played 8 GS finals. Wawrinka has played 2.

Monica Seles, do you think her story is the saddest of this beautiful sport. Just seen a documentary on her, I knew she was good, but not that good. She was 6 slams in the space of 2 years and was only 18/19, just a little girl. So sad, the Seles story is so sad.

Yep, Seles and Graf were shaping up to be nearly as epic as Evert-Navratilova rivalry. IMO Steffi would've had 3-4 less slams and Seles would've had 6-7 more atleast. When she came on to the scene, she was a bit nadal-esque in her unreal ability to run everything down and it was even more stunning considering she had to do more lateral moving than most because of her double handed stroke (she had a double handed forehand and backhand!).

She has won every grand slam from AO 91 to AO 93 other than 2 Wimbledons in between. There is hardly any doubt that her number of Grand Slams would have been more than Graf's the way things were going. Steffi was as dominant in 88 to 90 A0 as anybody could (winning 8 out of 9 GS). Then comes Monica Seles, a 16 years old girl. Graf wins 2 out of next 12 until AO 93. (Seles wins 8 from those 12) Post 93 Seles gets stabbed, Graf wins 10 out of next 15. It is laughable to suggest that Steffi would have had just 3-4 less grand slams. She was literally finished by Seles as GS scene, barely hanging on in W.

Before the 93 stabbing, it was 6-4 in Graf's favor. So I doubt it would have been as lopsided as Federer-Roddick !!! Graf was a great champion, probably the best nerves and outstanding mental toughness. She would definitely have found a way to get past the rampant Seles eventually even had the stabbing incident not occurred Methinks both would have ideally ended with around 16-18 majors..

Seles would have that turned that H2H around by the end of that year. Graf was good, there is no question about it, but based on what we were seeing and how Seles came back to still be a decent player, she was better. The stabbing took away what many people feel is possibly the greatest women's player ever. Seles was better, no doubt about it, she was winning almost everything before that horrible attack. Horrible for Graf as well knowing it was a fan who did it for her and he was successful, she went on to win many slams. Seles was never the same. Do you really think that a girl who had won more slams before 20 than anyone else in the history of the sport, would have only won 1 more slam in her career if the stabbing didn't occur? We will never know for sure, but I have feeling that Seles would have had at least 5 more slams than Graf.

Thats more or less a myth. Just before Seles got stabbed, the Graf-Seles rivalry stood at 6-4 in favor of Graf. Incase you want to say that Graf had the early advantage (because Monica was younger), their last 5 encounters is 3-2 in favor of Graf. Between 1990 Australian Open and 93 French Open, Graf won only two slams out of 11 (both wimbledons) but she lost to Seles only twice in those 9 defeats. IIRC she lost to Sanchez-Vicario more than she lost to Seles at that time. Its laughable to say that Steffi would've been dominated because she never was dominated by Seles, except on clay. On grass, Steffi had the upper hand quite easily against Seles and on hard courts, it was all dependent on how well Graf's forehand was working. Get your facts right next time.

Lol.. Look at these facts and let anybody with basic human intelligence conclude.
