I spent some days here before IPL-8 too and that helped me. I had to work on some basic techniques, which I thought needed some fine tuning, so I decided to come to Trivedi Sir and get it right. Can you please elaborate on the techniques you are working on? While going for the jump dur ing my delivery stride, I was leaning too much backward and as a result my body was falling slightly behind. I also injured myself in the process. I am trying to get into front-loading position so that I fall forward during my delivery stride. Hopefully, I will be able to get it right before the season starts. I was also not getting my pitching right while bowling to left-handers and right-handers in tandem. My batting, too, needed improvement. How helpful has been your stint here? Tarak Sir is a great coach when it comes to the basics of the game, and as a youngster, that is all you need - getting your basics right. Even at our level, we need to fine tune our basics from time to time. He is also a very flexible coach who gives you lot of liberty to work on and is open to ideas. He also has a good bunch of boys here who have played cricket at district and state level, of course it is not Ranji Trophy standard but when you are working on the basics you don't need guys with very high level techniques. Besides, there are some Ranji players here, like Smit Patel and Rush Kalaria, so when I need to bowl at a good batsman or bat against a good bowler, I can get that. How is your injury that kept you out for almost the whole season last year? I am completely fit now. I am also taking this off-season as a period to work more on my game and fitness so that I don't miss any game in the coming season. Saurashtra missed your service a lot last year.... I know that. The team also missed the services of senior players like Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja who were out on India duty. This was also Shitanshu Kotak's first season as a coach. Moreover, we had a very young team. There are quite a few exciting players like Sheldon Jackson and Arpit Vasavada but the others will need some time to blossom. I think the worst is behind us now and we are looking forward to the start of the new season. Are you also looking for a India call in the near future? I am not thinking too much about that at the moment. I will concentrate on my fitness and performance, the rest can take care of itself. There is too much competition in the Indian pace department at the moment, your thoughts on that? The fact that Mohammad Shami is not playing and someone like Bhuvneshwar Kumar had to sit out even when India is playing three seamers shows the bench strength India have at the moment. Another good sign is that there are different set of bowlers for all forms of cricket.

MCcricket Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I have from personal experienced learned n believe 100% what Shoaib says, if Unadkat has to make any progress he has to go back to basics, bowl from 30 yards, heavierball, lighter ball, just focus on strength and pace as he has lost forgotten to bowl even m/f n now is a medium pacer who bowls at 122 n no hope for him. Does he have the courage to go all out, Shoaib would be an excellent talent scout n bowling consultant for us as he is very intelligent unlike people s perception, Unadkat was bowling decently at U19 n then regressed and lost pace n direction, same with RP, Munaf, Sreesanth n many others
