Renowned Bangladeshi newspaper tries to shame Team India with a distasteful ad

Weren't those Bangladeshi fans who forced Nasir Hossain take down that picture with his sister? Even Mortaza has shut his FB account down because of moronic Bangladeshi fans. Bangladeshi media is a reflection of Bangladeshi fans. You may find it funny, but almost everyone in this world sees this as a classless behavior that is associated with low-life losers.
+++ I'd have appreciated a funny jibe at the Indian team, but this one's not even funny... It's crass and classless...

BNG has had amazing success recently, and they deserve all the accolades for their superb performance. However, the ad took the celebrations a bit too far. The daily should have avoided it. The focus should remain on BNGs performance and not get diluted because of controversies.

It's not just a harmless pun. Tonsuring is culturally seen as a humiliating practise and it's natural to evoke angry reactions. Anyone is free to make unflattering remarks though' date=' be it the picture or the reactions.[/quote'] I have never even heard of the word tonsuring till this silly episode. But if it's so humiliating why is it practiced? Regardless, it was a mere pun given India's struggle with cutters. No need to make it out to be something else. I am willing to bet whoever came up with the ad is unaware of the cultural relevance of tonsuring.

Weird question. A half tonsured head does not look humiliating to you? You're telling me that the guy who did the photoshop did not mean to raise a laugh out of the Bangladeshis by mocking the Indian cricketers. With regards to the other idiotic question around why its practiced, Hindus in India tonsure their heads during the death of their parents or sometimes in temples as a symbolic sacrifice/offering to God. By tonsuring I mean a full head shave, my dear innocent Bangladeshis, not a partially shaved head. Don't get me wrong, I don't give a **** about it, these cricketers are public figures, they'll get the fawning fanboys on one hand and the hate and ridicule on the other. It just funny that Bangladeshis come here pretending to be all incredulous about how Indians consider the ad to be in bad taste and a little humiliating.

You have every right to be angry. But I have the same right to think that's a bit over the top. Suppose the Afghans ran the same ad with BD players after beating us. I wouldn't be happy, but that has less to do with the ad itself and more to do with the actual results. I'd say "clever ad, not particularly classy" but I wouldn't make a big fuss over it. The ad is obviously a double entendre.
