HippoSucks Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Crowd trouble halts play at Colombo A Pakistan player was reportedly hit by a projectile during the Sri Lanka-Pakistan third ODI after a small riot broke out in the stands as play came to a stand-still at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo. The incident took place when Sri Lanka were reeling at 158/7 in a chase of 317 in the third ODI, which Pakistan went on to win by 135 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Visuals were shown of a fight that broke in the crowd between two groups even as the Pakistan players, as a safety measure, formed a huddle and sat in the middle of the ground as they waited for security to take appropriate measures. The players later were back in the safety of their dressing room and waited for nearly 20 minutes before the game resumed. Match referee Javagal Srinath came out to supervise the proceedings and was seen in conversation with the umpires. Meanwhile, the security forces along with the riot police were busy clearing the two blocks of stands near the scoreboard where the two groups clashed and they pelted stones into the ground when they were asked to leave. Play finally resumed after the section of people who had caused trouble were evacuated from the ground. Immediately after the resumption of play, Russell Arnold, on air, mentioned that the clash and violence did not have anything to do with the cricket. There were no immediate reports of arrests, but dozens of vehicles at the stadium were damaged due to stone throwing, witnesses said.Pakistan players and fans declined to blame Sri Lankan authorities and fans at large for the disturbance, instead pointing the finger at a small group of spectators. "We can't blame everyone for an individual wrong our support is still with SL & their fans," Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul Haq said in a tweet. Ex-player and commentator Shoaib Akhtar added in his own tweet: "We can't blame everyone for an individual wrong our support is still with SL & their fans!" Former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene was indignant, however."We should take results in correct spirit and enjoy the game," he tweeted. "Very poor from some spectators. Hope it doesn't reflect on all SL fans." http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/73559/crowd-trouble-halts-play-at-colombo
Shivaji bhonsle Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Apparently, Srilankan Muslims in the stands were supporting Pakistan it seems and started the trouble.
HippoSucks Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 "We can't blame everyone for an individual wrong our support is still with SL & their fans," Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul Haq said in a tweet. I do not think Misbah has a Twitter account. I am not sure where Crizbuzz gets this information from...

Mahaa Raavana Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Apparently' date=' Srilankan Muslims in the stands were supporting Pakistan it seems and started the trouble.[/quote'] Apparently, you are misinformed..two groups of drunkards got into a fight, police threw them out and they pelted stones at the police from outside. Some of the stones landed near the boundary line. That's all that happened. Stop spreading BS.
Gollum Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Apparently' date=' Srilankan Muslims in the stands were supporting Pakistan it seems and started the trouble.[/quote'] I read the same thing in social media. Lankans are befuddled as to how their Lankan brethren were supporting Pakistan just because of their religion. :hysterical: So innocent !!!!! In India we have gotten used to this aspect of Muslims.:nice:
