Vijy Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Replacing an opener with a middle order bat was a stroke of genius. Well done selectors. Mukund should have been here instead of Nair. Now the squad has one opener' date=' unless Ojha opens of course- and I know he can but cant be right for long term planning at test level.[/quote'] Ojha is not a FC opener... has opened in shorer formats. Chepu, with Test opening avg of 100+ will open with Rahul.
maniac Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Are you kidding me...As crucial as Rahane and Rahul's innings were....it was Rohit's 70 that was the glue that pretty much held everything together....it was like great editing to a great movie with a great story...it was like the glue that holds a beautiful picture together. Don't see why there is still so much hate after the heroic performance in the 2nd test that contributed to India's win....this hate is getting too much :banghead:
maniac Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Also Next test hope Ishu gets too 200 .......Hope that will overshadow Sanga's retirement
SaintEschaton Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Been a while since I've seen that - memories of Sidhu, SRT and Laxman. As for Iyer, some amount of hype is bound to be because of Mumbai lobby - same also goes for Sarfaraz Khan. Yeah I don't see Iyer or Sarfaraz as viable longterm test prospects although they're both too young to make a definite judgment this early. But I think they have honed their slogging skills in IPL and are ready to crack the T20 squad and will with in a few years become ODI mainstays to replenish our ranks of big hitters

Too many sloggers around anyway - that Hooda is another.
HippoSucks Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Can we try Abhinav Mukund or Karun Nair or Shreyas Iyer in place of pathetic* in the team 11? Some budding player for the Test 11 instead of pathetic. Suggest other options too. [Yes, like BG said ChePu first, looking for backup options to ChePu] (* a stray dog like 79 or 790 doesnt change the tag) If he gets 790 runs in an innings the tag should be changed for sure...
Vijy Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 If he gets 790 runs in an innings the tag should be changed for sure... :haha: That would indeed be something else - he'd overtake the highest score in cricket by more than 150 runs.
fineleg Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 Pity we didn't get to see Nair in the team today. Not sure if Nair is good, but could have tried him. We DONT have allrounder, not Binny, not Ashwin, we just dont have allrounder. Get 6 batsmen + wk + 4 bowlers. Chepu at 3, Rahane at 5, No. 6 batsman we need to find one, who is our No. 6 going forward?
renjith Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 V. Shankar is the all rounder you're looking at Much better test bat than Binny and probably a better bowler too Is v shankar a better bowler than binny? Has anyone seen him bowl?
Vijy Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Is v shankar a better bowler than binny? Has anyone seen him bowl? Appears to be better than Binny by a little, but that's not saying much. I don't thnk Shankar can take international-level wkts.
