SachDan
Robert Craddock With due apologies to Dhondy,Sali,Ravi and other extremely talented writers of the ICF, I feel that Robert Craddock of Australia is the best. Even the hugely respected writers like Peter Roebuck,Derek Pringle,Simon Huges,Gideon Haig and our own Sharda Ugra don't seem to match his quality. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
lol Didn't know Craddock actually wrote about cricket. That's a revelation :D Link to comment

Tapioca
Crash Craddock is a fine writer and his only real competitors are a couple of other Australian journalists. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Of those alive, Roebuck and Atherton would most likely top the list. Of all I've read in the past, Jack Fingleton tops the list. Ray Robinson, John Arlott and Cardus come a notch behind. Link to comment
SachDan
I meant writers of the present generation...I totally agree with u about Fingleton..he's better than Neville Cardus. Link to comment
Guest HariSampath
Fingleton was a fantastic writer but no question, the best ever was Sir Neville Cardus. Of contemporaries, Tony Cozier is perhaps the best writer over the last 30 odd years Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Didn't like the fact that Cardus apparently made a handful of things up on the cuff for a lot of his reports (there are a few stories about how he missed the odd game at times, but would still write a report straight off the scorecard and his knowledge of players/characters), or reconstructing things (like his account of Spofforth's Ashes-creating test. Fingleton had a far more right-from-the-heart-of-the-battle mentality to his writing, which I preferred over Cardus' flowery prose. Link to comment
talksport
I grew up with R. Mohan's Hindu reports and I think he is the best :) Link to comment
SachDan
R.mohan is a good writer but not among the best..Even though Nirmal Shekhar rarely writes about cricket, his articles has always been very good in The Hindu. Link to comment
Guest HariSampath
I have got this unquestioned hats off on Tony Cozier, over his writings commentaries..of 30 plus years ....NO cricket fan has ever doubted the class of Cozier, on his writings from the halycon days of Lloyd's windies , Waugh's Aussies, through Sachin, Warne, Lara , Murali of today..... fineleg
I grew up with R. Mohan's Hindu reports and I think he is the best :) R.Mohan is "ok", certainly nowhere near top quality. Hari Sampath: Yes, Cozier  Link to comment

You must be talking it somewhere else - perhaps Wisden Asia Cricket ? R. Mohan sounds better now than he did at the time because of the nostalgia factor and the current Hindu writers are very average. Link to comment
The Outsider
Amongst the really recent ones, I really enjoyed Pundits of Pakistan. Link to comment

Holysmoke
Dhondy + Boss. Seriously. I'd rather read a Dhondy write-up compared to any of those. And if Boss has got some stats in it, then you know its gonna be enlightening. Link to comment
Rajan
1.R.Mohan 2.R.Mohan 3.R.Mohan I paid for Hindu to read his cricket coverage. Thanks. Link to comment
