My original impression, as the was commentators', was it looked not out. However, the replays showed it to be much closer than it originally looked. To put in short, i wouldnt have been too upset had that had been given out, but it surely wasnt plumb.

Why do you write in absolute terms? Relative to what has been denied to Indian bowlers in this series, had that been given out, why wont you be too upset!?

So, what you saying is, " The umpiring has been pathetic, so keep expecting it to be pathetic all the way through" ? And a small correction, good appeals werent turned down during the Aus innings. The umpires simply failed to see what happened out there, for them to have made the mistakes they made in the Aus innings.

Australia came into that B'lore test playing superbly, regardless of the umpiring - and I suspect that with a far better pair of umpires, they would still have won albeit not as convincingly. Here, it's much more painful - the teams are more evenly matched, and the umpiring's been responsible for keeping the match on a fairly even keel - now moving Australia's way, when it would most likely have been the other way without these errors. The umpiring in this test has been a complete disgrace, and proof that the system needs an overhaul - as do the umpires! Benson and Bucknor have no place umpiring in cricket unless one learns the rules of the game, and the other first gets a pair of working eyes and ears implanted into his head (with a few brain cells to go with them). Let them take their fallible charm elsewhere.
