The finance minister of Kerala said that many people are eating junk food instead of local Indian food, so the communist govt. wants this new "fat tax" and hopes it will act as a deterrent. Is this really the proper way to control obesity?

1. Most Chat shop's anyways don't give bill.

2.Street vendors don't pay tax

3.People who buy at big vendors don't mind paying another tax. These people are usually more health conscious they usually don't eat out and out junk everytime.

Overall a senseless tax which will only impact about 5 percent of obese people.

They need to cut down on maida based parottas and build few jogging tracks to promote fitness (I lived in Kerala for few months and could not find a single track, had to run on roads).

Malayali folks rarely go for American fast food, so fat tax thing is unnecessary.

Great initiative by the govt :hatsoff: These poisons in the name of fast food should be banned. I don't understand how people can eat all the crap that they sell in McDs or KFCs or Subways. When you know that these food are going to harm you and still you eat it. Same with liquor and cigarettes. I just don't get it.

I have not even entered one of those in last 3 years and hope to continue this for ever
