Hi all, what are the risks of catching dengue fever travelling to Delhi and Rishikesh in Oct? Any precautions one can take? Personally, i'm not too bothered but mum is perturbed by all the the scare stories news channels keep pumping out so anything i can show were to ease concerns would be helpful.

Use Odomos all the time. .....even in the morning. Even a bit on the hair.

Wear full length light clothing.

If possible use mosquito net or at least mosquito repellent machine at night.

Your mum is right. It is shocking how many people are coming down with this.

Please use hand sanitizer liberally because some kind of viral fever thingy is also going on .Stay away from people who look infected (cold and cough type symptom)

Drink Neemu pani once in a day ...(for the viral thingyy)

I would say err on side of caution because chikungunya and dengue, even if not too serious will drain a person out badly.

A few people around us have had it.

@radhika ji, is it because of the unseasonal rains Delhi had recently for the outbreak?

It is not unseasonal...just more than usual + bad management+ pathetic drainage .

Plus...this time it is not dengue alone...chikunguniya is also making headlines. The usual viral fever is also there.

Now shant Sharma is down with chikkunguniya .

Goose.....be careful of 'din ke machhar'....the ones that are out to bite in the morning. Dengue and chikkungunia are both caused by their bite .
