Ausi's will go for a win Guaranteed!!! So they will try to score as fast as possible. This is why our bowlers have to bowl tight line and length. Anything under 300, I don't see a reason why we shouldn't chase it (esp. when we are 0-1)

The pitch is placid. Its hard enough to get set tailenders out. Dismissing ten Aussis batsmen in 3 sessions is a herculean task, likely wont happen. Australia has an opportunity to show the world how desperately they want to win this one. To make allowances for lost time due to rain, they should declare with a target of 300. Lets see if they got the balls to do that.

Can we keep Aus to RR 3.0 - while attacking we shud keep one eye on the RR of Aus Aus score their runs too darn quickly. Can we keep their RR to 3.0 even though we are trying to attack them. Would it help to plug the boundaries where runs are easily leaked? Where have the most boundaries been leaked in SCG? Do any of you have this information? For example, 1. Is deep third man helpful? Quite a few boundaries there in some matches, not sure abt SCG 2. Is a sweeper cover or sweeper point helpful? Since we have an offstump attack, a few loose wide outside offstump from RPS/IS or a long hop from Kumble will be there. Not wanting Ind bowlers to be very defensive, but it will help to keep Aus no more than 3.0 Infact drying up their runs can frustrate them to make mistakes while batting. Else, they just run away with the scoring rate!

RR of less than three against Aus ? Forget it, never going to happen. Attacking or semi-defensive fields, Aus will score their runs at close to 3.7 RPO, period. How else can you explain the 7th wicket partnership putting on 58 in 10 overs, after they came together when the score was 134/6 ? If Ind go out there to " keep the Aus runs down", they will make a huge mistake. Even though we may not have the arsenal to bowl Aus out, or quite simply, they are just too good, our intent should be to go out there and dismiss them. And its not like harboring thoughts of dismissing for a relatively low-score is a pipe-dream. We have already dismissed them twice in 3 attempts, and would have done so in the 2nd innings in Melbourne had they not declared. My take, assuming there is no interruption by weather, is that Aus will be 330/6 at the close of play.

Was going to start a similar thread. Win, Lose, or Draw this match, we have to cheer our team for showing such pride to even stay in the game after what that lundmunching, ape in a sun-hat has put us through. I'd have given up, regarding it as an exercise in futility, but the team did well in the face of adversity... We have played well enough to get a crushing win and make it 1-1, it's just unfair...

MM, If we dont get wickets, we MUST dry up runs, else, you wont have 330/6, you will have 375 for some# of wickets.
