BeautifulGame Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Martyrs' families are losing their sole bread earner in order to save our lives. We can lead safe, secure lives because of them. If Indian government leaders, or any Indian is sleeping peacefully then the credit goes only to these soldiers. It is the Indian government's foremost duty to help the children of India's martyrs graduate, i.e. provide them free of cost education. Their sacrifice is priceless. These kids have no one to support their dreams, they've lost their fathers so that India could be safe. Providing a one time compensation is not enough, rather it is insulting their sacrifice. These children deserve constant support in order to give wings to their dreams. Link to sign the petition https://www.change.org/p/prakashjavdekar-free-education-for-children-of-india-s-martyrs?recruiter=240918311&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink When the elected politicians in India get every amenity free , surely the children of our Martyred Soldiers deserve atleast free education? Hopefully this petition can gain media attention and atleast get a Parliament debate it deserves . I don't know how much impact an online petition has in India in real terms but there is no harm in taking a few minutes to sign it. CG 1
beetle Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 I am sure there is some provision for this by the Armed forces at least for basic school educations. If not...it is sad. There should be provision for some grant for higher education .
The Outsider Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) I signed the petition in case there isn't already something available for them. edit: Please post related to topic only. Atleast threads like these should not become 'rant' threads. Edited October 10, 2016 by radhika
sourab10forever Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 As far as I know,Every Indian child has an option of free basic education in any govt school...be it a martyr's child or not. So what's the point of this petition?
Malcolm Merlyn Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 There is something called Bal Bhavan in most regimental centers. The children of martyrs stay there and get schooling the nearest APS or KV.

So what's the point of this petition? The point is to keep the hyper national sentiment brewing where rational arguments have no space and the jingoistic mood gets the fuel. This is only a dress rehearsal because of UP. Wait for '19 when we go to polls again.

sourab10forever Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 There is a quota for candidates with family in military background in most entrance exams. In Karnataka CET, these candidates have to pay minimal fees which is almost equal to that paid by SC/ST along with the preference for a seat over General categories.
