It was due to this person ( who said your team sucks except Sachin during 1996 WC ), I had no interest in Cricket before that line. It was somehow the fact of being outside India in a 3rd country, facing another Pakistan. It was light banter, he was a crazy Bollywood fan too but this is what got me in the game after playing as a kid and off course you know where I stand now In the US, it was nothing about cricket but I heard his friends had a street fight outside a Boston Night Club with some friends of mine after India beat Pak in 99 WC I was back in India, I never met him again - lo and behold - where do I see him now, he is a PSL administrator Cricketics and Sidhoni 2

Yes, something patriotic hit me - and I started to watch it more intensely. This was a pvt school in the alps, disciplined so TV was only allowed in the evening but the dean was English, so 96 WC was an exception. The remark abt Sachin kinda led me to admire him immensely, and thus a lifelong fan. I had no interest in cricket as a kid, I used to play badminton ( club ) and didn't even know that batsmen didn't switch creases after an over, the field did - lol Malcolm Merlyn 1
