coffee_rules
Bedi characterises precisely what Gavaskar wants. Usually the senile old man doesn't make sense at all, but this comment on Gavaskar describes Gavaskar aptly. Gavaskar wants to say anything about everything in his columns, but still won't accept any responsibilty for improving Indian cricket himself. The way he threw around names for the coach proves that. He got Haynes, Ranatunga, Emburey into the mix. All he wants is license to shoot his mouth off in public. Unlike Ravi shaz who atleast took some responsibility (easy BD notwithstanding) Link to comment
Dhondy
But Bedi has an axe to grind, Coffee. The two never saw eye-to-eye even during their playing days. It's a bit like the Imran-Sarafraz situation. Having said that, his choice of Emburey as one of the candidates was completely inexplicable, as was his censure of Whatmore on rather flimsy grounds. Link to comment
coffee_rules
They have a love-hate relationship. I think SMG mentions in one his books that Bedi introduced Marshneil to Sunny before marriage, so he had a hand in their pairing up. Sunny also had a hand in Bedi getting the cap from Wadekar as he sided with Bedi in the 1974 Eng series. And Bedi has named his son, Sunny. But these days, they give out sound-bytes thrashing each other. But I think they are quite pally. But Bedi's senility notwithstanding, Gavaskar's actions these days reeks of something that can't be explained. May be he is bitter that he could not advance his son's career. Link to comment

Gambit
And Bedi has named his son, Sunny. It's actually Gavasinder Singh. They used to be buddies but had a real falling out. Link to comment
