Vijay.Sharma
He has performed better than any fast bowler we had in the last ten years bar Zak. Two MOS to his name in test matches is a testimony. He struggled with consistency, but he averaged 28 in India before the WI series and was one of the main reasons, India won so many test matches at home despite ineffective spin bowling of Bhajji and others. His average has inflated due to his poor returns in England and Australia. See the difference for yourself, Compare RP and Ishant's stats at home. Compare what Munaf bowled and what Ishant bowled in the same test in WI. Sreesanth could have been better than Ishant, but his downfall is self-created.D_T_W : Sreesanth :: rkt.india : Ishant Or was that too harsh? Come on rkt, the guy needs to learn to take wickets and learn to bowl like a half decent Test bowler before he can come into contention for Indian selection again. Just coz someone bowls over 140 dunn mean he is talented. Anyway this is my last post in this thread on this Ishant nonsense

Just coz someone bowls over 140 dunn mean he is talented. Anyway this is my last post in this thread on this Ishant nonsense Bro. One does not take 22 wickets in a test series and 15 wickets in a test series against Aus if he does not know how to bowl. He just struggled with some technical problems, otherwise he is fine. You name a test series in India where he did not play a big role in India win, apart from last WI test series where he looked ineffective. Series against SA in India, Eden test, SA going well and he came and rattled Hashim Amla with his pace and bounce and that spell changes the tide of the test. Test series against NZ, first two test drawn, all flat tracks, no help for either spinner or pacer, third test, Ishant takes 7 wickets and Indian won the match and series. Test against SA in Kanpur, a dust bowl, Ishant takes crucial wickets, Indian won. Test against Aus 2010 in Mohali, Ishant picks 3 wickets in quick succession turned the test. He has so many match turning spells for India in tests already, no other bowler bar Zak can claim to have them and you are saying he does not know how to bowl. We would not have imagined to win these test matches without Ishant. Even best of the players can struggle, but it does not mean, you discard them. He is an honest, hard working bowler, and his performance in coming years will decide India's fate more often than not. He needs to be encouraged. He also rattled Jayawardene in Sri Lanka on a dead track. It didn't come in a while but it shows that he has the potential to unsettle top class batsman. I agree with you that he needs to be persisted with and i am hoping he will come back to form once he has fully recovered from his ankle problem but how long do you think we can realistically give him once he comes back from injury if he does not start taking more wickets. Ishant has a lot of potential and has bowled some excellent spells for India but he has to start producing quickly, we may not have any Steyn's, Marshall's or McGrath's waiting to come into the side but surely soon, the likes of Awana or Pankaj Singh deserve a shot. I think he has time on his side. Even if he does not get his form back immediately, he can play domestic cricket and work on his bowling more and improve and then again come back to the team as he is still only 23. express bowling
Ishant needs to bowl on or around the off stump -- all the time. At his pace and height, slight back-of-a-length deck-hitting deliveries are ok.
