As most of you know I like nothing better than dreaming up cricket 'All time XIs' So I thought of trying to come up with two equally matched one day sides to play each other, major proviso being each team needs at least one and a maximum of two players from each test playing nation My effort: Team 1: Sachin Tendulkar, Saeed Anwar, Kumar Sangakarra ©, Brian Lara, Kevin Pietersen, A B De Villiers (wk), Shakib Ul Hasan, Richard Hadlee, Heath Streak, Shane Warne, Joel Garner Team 2: Sanath Jayasuriya, Marcus Trescothick, Ricky Ponting, Hashim Amla, Vivian Richards, M S Dhoni (c and wk), Dan Vettori, Wasim Akram, Paul Strang, Curtly Ambrose, Mashrafe Mortaza

Paul Strang?Why not Murali?
a) I need a Zimb in team 2 and b) Sanath is my team 2 Lankan :D Also that would probably make team 2 bowing line up a bit stronger than team 1 Remember both sides need to be equally matched and have at least one and max of two players from test playing nations

No I didnt :hmmm: Why would you say that? Each team has one from each of the ten test playing nations and two WIndians Anyway I had failed my own challenge by not having a Pakistani in my Team 1- HAHA -:P Duly edited

Ya got it. So basically a team must have 9 players of 9 different nations and 2 payers of the tenth test paying nation. From the OP, I thought we can have a combination such as 5*2 +1

Team 1: Amla, Tendu, Sir Viv, J. Trott, ABDV (keeper), Bevan, Shakib, Streak, Hadlee, Waqar, Murali The top 6 avg around 50 each (give or take a few). 7, 8 and 9 can all bat well too. 5 bowling options (7-11) and part-timers in Tendu and Bevan and a batting all-rounder in Viv. Team 2: M. Hussey, Sangakkara, Kohli, Kallis, Zaheer Abbas, MSD, Neil Johnson, Flintoff, Bond, Garner, Abdul Razzaq Batting till 8. 6 bowling options (Kallis and 7-11) with some part-time dobblers in Kohli and Hussey.

Good sides... not sure about Sang and Huss opening- both can do so well -but there are specialist openers you could have picked... but good balance in the teams. Interesting that you picked Trott, good call, easy to forget he averaged 50+ in ODI, would be good foil for Viv and his fellow Saffie ABDV
