  1. So called knowledgeable cricket fans having a go at Gill for a neck spasm, likely a spinal cord trauma and comparing it to finger injuries/toe fracture. Still hurting that they got slapped hard by Gill since he took over as test captain. Can't see any other reason. Did Gambhir ask Iyer to continue fielding after his recent spleen injury? This forum continues to keep falling to absolute pits and it's always the same set of posters involved indulging in non-stop abuse, name calling and mocking in the name of being critical. Was a mistake to get back to posting here again. @Gollum Before I stop posting here let me say this to you. You have become one of the worst double faced hypocrites on this forum. The recent Women's WC was a classic example. When the team lost you were mocking every player and when we won you were quoting some odd posts as if there is no bigger Women's cricket supporter than you. Enjoy the filth you and your friends here post.
  2. Spineless from Gautam Gambhir to go back to the same pitches as in the NZ series. With this mindset, forget the WTC. Thoroughly disappointed. Looks like despite Ganguly saying TM made no request on pitch, GG has used his old connections with the Eden curator from KKR days to get a tailor made pitch. The same curator in the last IPL refused to accept Rahane's request for KKR home ganes.
  3. So the best bowler of the day is getting shifted! BCCI clearly is looking for tall seamers who can get bounce. If he can get to 135-136 kmph regularly, with that height and control, he could be such a wonderful addition to our bowling attack. He bowled quite well in Duleep Trophy, has been among wickets in Ranji recently, picked wickets today as well. Tougher tests await for him, with some strength training and conditioning, he could move to the next level in 12-15 months.
  4. Excellent chase by Ind A, were in control through the innings. Great to see Ruturaj score runs and NKR finish a game. Harshit picked 2/49 and hit the winning 6. Keeps performing. Good lad with huge upside potential. Good game for young Nishant Sandhu as well. Still only 21, seems as if he has been around for lot longer. Good utility cricketer
  5. I am sure you would have said the reverse if I said no T20I players should play VH series. In any case T20 team is young, will be good for them to keep playing as much LO cricket as they can. Else they will sit at home from Dec 20 to January 20.
  6. Axar is yet to play a test match under Gambhir. Unlikely he will get picked at Eden out of the blue. His test bowling suffered as he improved as a super valuable LOI all rounder. Going by he performed in home tests vs Aus and Eng, he is now a batsman who can also bowl
  7. Unlikely. Yashasvi, Rahul, Sai, Gill, Pant, Jadeja Jurel at 7 Washi 8 Kuldeep 9 Bumrah at 10 Siraj 11 Unless they decide to drop Sai, play Jurel at 3 and pick Akashdeep as 3rd pacer at Eden. Looks unlikely though
  8. Shame on SLCB to put a gun on players head when they fear for their life. There was a blast near their hotel killing 12 people and yet players who don't want to play are being threatened with bans.
  9. Why shouldn't he after scoring 87 and 39 in his last test. Batted well. He isn't as weird as it looks on TV. Watched him bat at Kotla vs WI. His head does fall over a bit exposing him to sharply incoming deliveries but that can be sorted out. Many of our young batters have had this issue and sorted it through slight tweaks. Didn't do well vs SA A, but it's okay. He's being backed and should be assessed only after this series (we don't play a test till July next year).
  10. NKR released from the first test squad, will join India A for the one day series. As confirmed by RTD, Jurel will play at 6 as specialist batter.
  11. There is a 3 week gap between the SA T20s (5th T20 on Dec 19) and 1st ODI vs NZ (starts Jan 11). VH trophy starts from Dec 24. BCCI should ensure every single current LOI player including Bumrah plays at least 3-4 matches in VH trophy before the NZ series
  12. Christmas and new year plans derailed for RoKo! No more turning up only for ODIs Rohit does seem damn serious about extending his career. Massive weight loss, now this, looking good for him. Upto the domestic bowlers now to give him a tough time
  13. So Hazlewood and Abbott had hamstring scans during their Sheffield Shield match. Abbott is out while Hazlewood has been cleared. The Aussie bowling unit can crumble by the end of the Ashes. All of them are in mid 30s and a few of them now have an injury overhang. If Jofra, Wood, Tongue, Carse can be fit for first couple of matches at Perth and Gabba, could really become super interesting.
  14. My wish is to see all 5 tests go to the last day and a hard fought sea saw battle. No 2-3 day tests please.
  15. Figured out the reason. A lot of our players have withdrawn at the last minute to manage their workload. Naturally that leads to loss of credibility with franchises.
  16. WBBL organizers must be kicking themselves now. I wouldn't be surprised if Harman, Smriti, RIcha, Deepti and other decide not to enroll for future WBBL drafts either. Will be a right call. WBBL needs them more than them needing WBBL. Our players can be in WPL and Hundred. Maybe go to the SA T20 league when they launch women's tournament.
  17. Normal test pitches, some swing and seam on first morning, good for batting next couple of days, some bounce for pacers and spinners. Under no circumstances should we go back to the pathetic dust bowls of last 4-5 years. It hurt our test cricket in the long run, batters lost confidence, opposition spinners looked better than they were.
  18. In that second test, We won with two and half sessions still left. bowled 118 overs. It's absolutely fine for other teams to also fight back. Only problem was with complete lack of bounce on that Kotla pitch which became worse as the test progressed. I hope the team management does not go to the useless dustbowls which became a norm after Covid. Worst quality of cricket gets played on such tracks as it's a total lottery with guys like O'Keefe, Root, Ajay Patel and Santer being made to look much better than they are. In Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep, Jadeja and Washi there is enough skill set to win 9/10 tests played on decent surfaces with some bounce for spinners.
  19. More or less the team picks itself. Unless Jitesh Sharma seals a spot in the next series vs SA, I'd expect Pant to be in that final squad as well. Abhishek, Gill, Yashasvi, Tilak, SKY Two out of Samson/Pant/Jitesh Hardik, Shivam, Axar, Washi Kuldeep, Varun Bumrah, Arshdeep Changes from 24 squad Rohit - Gill Kohli - Abhishek Jadeja - Sundar Chahal - Varun Siraj - Tilak
  20. Same as other olympics team sports? Hockey has Great Britain as has Football. WI is a tricky one. 1998 CWG fanes had Antigua, Barbados and Jamaica as separate teams. But then Eng didn't participate only Scotland and Northern Ireland were there. Looking at top teams from continents, GB, Aus, India, SA and USA likely to be 5 confirmed teams. NZ PAK SL BD AFG to compete with others for final spot.
  21. 13 FC matches, 16 wickets@47 should tell you the story. No wickets in a match where J&K bundled out Rajsthan for 152 and 89. In a team like J&K which topped its Ranji Elite group last year, he will have to prove his worth by taking wickets and showing he belongs to the FC level. Cannot expect a 5-star treatment when the team has done so well without him.
  22. Another low score for Sarfaraz. Not a good start for the season. Perhaps highly demotivated. Should pick up the phone and talk directly to Agarkar
  23. Proper pounding of his left forearm. Before that got hit on helmet grill trying a reverse sweep vs a fast bowler bowling really quick. I hope it's not concussion related issue
  24. Pant gets hit again on his hand and has retired hurt. Hope nothing serious
  25. Anyone averaging 31 after 40 tests should be called out for lack of performance performance. Massive credit to him for turning it around though and for winning the WTC. Will still likely end his career with a sub-40 test average and not even 10 test 100s. BTW SA had decided to relax their quota system for big tournaments. T20 WC Final team had Rabada, Maharaj and Shamsi while WTC 2025 Final team had Rabada, Ngidi and Maharaj as three players of color.
