  1. WTC final 2021. india was in a great position for draw, rishab pant threw it away. 2017 CT even pak captain was willing to bowl had he won the toss, very unfortunate that bumrah got fakhar out on a no-ball. small margin but huge impact on result.
  2. Its unfortunate Kohli did not have the best of tactial coach around him. Anil kumble was an agressive coach, Sasthri was supposed to be good. To be fair, like how India utilized slow/dry conditions of west indies/dubia to win two ICC tournaments, Conditions in England were either conducive to Eng/NZ which is why they played the final eliminating AUS/IND. I agree with you, ravi shastri could have helped better with team tactics. Having said that, a young inzaman played a blinder in 1992 semis scoring 60 off 37 balls. A run ball innings either by pandya/pant would have given better odds to Team India. Some times, its how the players respond to preassure/given situation. Suraykumar yadav underperformed in 2023 ODI world cup and won us the 2024 t20 final with a brilliant catch. KL rahul cost us 2023 ODI final while he played two crucial innings in semis and final in 2025 CT. Its up to the players to deliver . Unfortunately kohli's sample size is single ODI world cup
  3. If you actually wanted to save wickets Dhongi should've come up ahead of HP or Pant! Ravi sastrhi could have helped here with better strategy.
  4. Jadhav was a trundler and substandard batter . If you actually wanted to save wickets Dhongi should've come up ahead of HP or Pant! Check kohlis reaction after rishabd pant throws it away, it was shastris idea to promote pant/pandya ahead of dhoni which kohli was not on board with. 240 is not out of reach despite chahal going for runs. world cup winning captain chris srikanth multiple times gave a statement that "had it not been for the rain, india would have won the semis". Similarly, Australia lost the semis since it was raining overnight and aus had to bat on a damp wicket on a seaming condition in 2019 Semis. I agree rohit is a better LOI captain . Having said that Dhoni played till 2019 ODI world cup. Virat could never assert himself nor any one could have so long Dhoni stays in the team, he would be the de-facto captain. Its like imran khan being the captain despite playing as a player under wasim akram the captain.
  5. 80 odd vs pak with 4 dropped catches ( 4 dropped catches for heavens sake plus a controversial DRS going in favour of sachin) . I do not recall the umpire who said, that ought to be 100 % out. By the same standard, why are you conveniently forgetting kohlis 113 in Semis in 2023 odi semis and 53 in 2023 odi final?
  6. Saeed anwar the great pakistani batter said, its a myth that batters pick the length from the hand of bowler but off the pitch/second guess the line/length. I do not recall a single batter who could have batted in 1996 semis where ball was turning square nor any batter who bats like a dream on a dampened pitch which has both swing and seam. Check back the match condition, its the only world cup (knockout) innings which got pushed to next day due to rain. The rain made it worse for indian batters with seam off the pitch, in addition to swing all through out. You have india at 70/3 in 20 overs. 170 needed off 30 overs with both rishabd pant and pandya throwing it away( the bowlers did not earn the wicket but both of them have gone for the lofted shots and got out) . Its not kohli/virtat alone who would decide. It was ravi sasthri who sent DK ahead of dhoni, sure he would have asked Virat to bat at number 4. In addition to the rain/innings got pushed to next day, shikar dawan who was doing great as opener got injured which brought choker KL RAHUL as opener. So much bad luck in single match. If not for overthrow, ENG would have failed to score 241 against NZ in final . Do not underestimate the 240 target on a bowling friendly pitch in semis. Kohli did not throw it away but the conditions got better off him with a 50-50 decision going against him. Choking is throwing it away/getting out after playing 20-30 deliveries succumbing to preassure. I am glad Kohli scored in the t20 final last year( a title win) and is the player of the match in semis in champions trophy in 2025 CT win. Add the player of torunament in 2014 t20, 2016 t20 and 2023 ODI world cup. Some thing suggests, he is by no means a choker.
  7. Kohlis dismissal was 50-50. Choking is throwing it away like sachin did it in 2011 ODI final when he was set playing 15-20 balls.
  8. Rishabh Pant c de Grandhomme b Santner 32 56 89 4 0 57.14 Dinesh Karthik c Neesham b Henry 6 25 29 1 0 24.00 Hardik Pandya c Williamson b Santner 32 62 81 2 0 51.61 MS Dhoni † run out (Guptill) 50 72 114 1 1 69.44 India lost the match by 19 runs. Had one of rishab/hardik/ms dhoni scored run a ball, India would have won it.
  9. Peak west indies could not chase 183 in 1983 final. Peak pakistan could only score 132 in 1999 final. When the ball seams and swings, its the bowlers who are calling the shots in England. Rohit and KL rahul both threw it away. It would have been fine, if they got out attacking. Defending and getting out for no score puts preassure on entire batting line up. It was an umpires call with the ball barely clipping. The ball started on leg stump and swung back, what could have kohli done different here? He covered the line and the ball hit him high on pad with barely clicking the top of off stump. "Umpires call" Could have been not out, had the on-field umpire given not out. Full again, starts on leg stump and swings back in towards middle. Kohli stretches across and plays around his front pad. Pinged on the front pad just above the knee-roll. This looks close, and the tracker returns umpire's call on leg stump I do not understand why Kohli is called a choker. Check his overall record below.
  10. Kohli puts in effort/has the sincerity. He had a private net session with sanjay bangar adjusting his stance to play on the backfoot(not commit on the frontfoot). I think, kohli will score good in england series. Rohit is due a failure for sure.
  11. 2019 ODI world cup semis, it was sheer bad luck that rain pushed indias innings to next day. No captain could beat conditons like rohit could not beat the slow pitch in 2023 odi world cup final, 2019 ODI semis, the pitch became damp and conducive to seam/swing due to rain and over cast conditions. Its the loss in 2017 champions trophy which led to kulcha( kuldeep) who delivered in 2025 CT final. Its the duo of pandya, rishab who failed in 2019 ODI semis who performed in 2024 t20 world cup final. 2024 t20 semis too, it was panday/brumash brillainace rather than rohits captaincy master stroke. Rohit almost lost it for us bolwing akshar when it should have been pandya. Kohli lacked an element of luck. I agree india could not win under iCC toruneys and rohit is better odi captain than kohli. Having said that, Kohli built a culture of fast bowling, nurtured fitness/fast bowling culture and made india a strong bowling unit which meant India had good success in SENA countries in TEST's and overall became a great test team. I think, kohli is an agressive captain who tends to go for the kill which does not work in ODI/t20's since its game of containment.
  12. A quick fire 50 from rohit would always do good to the team. Similar to dhoni, rohit the captain >> rohit the batter, hence the persistence.
  13. like how dhoni got lucky with sachin being dropped 4 times in 2011 world cup semis. Do not negate any icc tourney wins, all are hard earned. I am no rohit fan. he does not merit a place in tests, already retired from t20's. ODI's , yes so long he keeps his form. Seeking glory is not dhonis brith right, every super star desires that. Dhoni at 38 knocked out india in 2019 semis ( 50 odd from 72 balls. a run ball innings/strike rotation would have won it for india) ......at 38 rohit played a match winning odi innings in champions trophy final. India too missing bumrah/jaiswal/pant if you are worried about aussies missing key players.
  14. 2024 t20 was not rigged. Post 2008 mumbai attacks, official policy of indian government is to not travel to Pakistan for cricket which meant India needed to play at neutral venue like it was played (asia cup leading up to 2023 ODI world cup)
  15. No denying the fact about youngsters. I am talking about the leadership. Shubman gill exudes a poor body language under stress during knock outs/key matches. He is sadly the vice captain, he is gonna cost India so badly. KL rahul until champions trophy is not regarded as mentally weak. Rishab pant is not labelled responsible /responsible enough for ODI cricket. who is the leader among the current crop of youngsters who can lead and possible take India to title glory in 2027? Sachin as leader is miles below Rohit. I am no rohit fan in terms of his match fitness/work ethic on fitness but he has definetly got leadership skills, ability to handle preassure etc
  16. 1992 Pakistan world cup captain imran khan was late 39/ closer to 40 when he won the cup for Pakistan. Its more about leadership than contribution as batter.
  17. Dhawan is no sehwag, can never compare dhawan with sehway/jayasuriya/gilchrist.
  18. To be fair to Kohli/Shastri, both their ICC tournament losses ( 2017 CT and 2019 ODI world cup) were in England where the odds were not overwhelming favourable unlike the slow-dry conditions in west indies/Dubai which played to indias advantage. Under Kohli/Shastri, India definetly was a great test team. Had it not rained and the match not got pushed to next day in 2019 ODI world cup semis , the results could have been different.
  19. Rohit remodelled himself "as sehwag". It took us a decade of find a version of sehwag in Rohit. Its not easy which is why Indian team lacked the firepower for close to a decade from 2013-2023 with rohit himself batting conventionally.
  20. Has not kohli been always good against pace? His best detractors do not question his fitness/mental preparation. If he works on the basics of his "spin game", he should be good for 2027 ODI world cup like how sachin played his 2011 world cup. Don't think Rohit will survive this year. Rohit has not won a ODI world cup, so he may lobby/push himself but for his fitness. I think, he will play in ENG?
  21. Gavaskar on air said that, "The shot he played is played by a batter who is set and on a score of 20 or 30".I think, Kohli backed himself since he is in good form having been Man of the match in his previous two innings. If kohli intends to play in 2027 ODI world cup, the tracks are bouncy. I am not sure, if its excesive cricket or age that declined his game against spin. Neverthless medicore since some times, condidering he was mediocre even in IPL
  22. underrated and often forgotten innings since others have scored in this 2023 ODI world cup 100+ in semis, 50+ in finals(unlucky to get out on inside edge, steering india to 275-280 otherwise)
  23. That says pak is not as bad as the results show. I as an indian fan would be wary of pak in knock out 100/100 times. There is always 50-50 chance in knock outs. PAK can get better
  24. close match, hardly fought wins like ENG vs NZ or 2007 ind vs pak t20 finals or 1986 ind vs pak sharjah final have no context/history? Cricketing games are not just binary resylts. 2024 t20 ind vs sa was too a hard fought win. Its memorable since it was a close game.
