But the aussies were in position to win the series, multiple times. And you have to admit that they did it with much poorer batting resources. Bowled much better than the Poms though. Agreed. Aus pushed us much harder than Eng. This was possibly the most hard fought series in recent times.
veer Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Smith single handedly made their batting look much better than what it really is.. Kudos to him putrevus and rahulrulezz 2

At least in 3 matches Eng got into very good positions, and India had to fight back really well to win or draw those games. But yes this series was extremely close, just half way through the second test Aus almost regained the trophy. But you never felt at any point in time that India might lose a Test against England. All the matches it was about whether India would win or would it be a draw. Aussies OTOH fought every match and nearly every match the result was up in the air. There was never an inevitability of a draw or an India win.
Chalks Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 It was a nerve-shredding series, for both sets of supporters. Australia prepared well, and gave the home side a serious fright in its own backyard for the first time in a while. Much better than India have done in Australia recently. And another thing: as an old medium-pace trundler and #11 bat, it was refreshing to see a series mostly dominated by the bowlers.
