BCCI is richest and most powerful board in world. It can easily absorb 40% cut. Its a drop in ocean for Indian economy, we are on our way to become a super-power in few years, we already surpassed Britain last month. sarchasm 1 Link to comment

We are basically a one sport nation(hockey, football, badminton have an upsurge but long long way to go for them) and millions of children play the game here hoping to get play for India/IPL/Domestic one day. BCCI is also a huge employer, so even that has to be considered. We have many grounds to maintain, many stadiums to upgrade, many tourneys to run, besides pension for so many ex cricketers. Running costs are huge. We have >20 times the population of England yet will get only twice the amount they will get under the new model. That too after a huge chunk of revenue being generated from India. And cricket is not even close to being the numero uno sport there, so running costs won't be that high. BCCI has worked very hard to get to this position, we can't just throw it away. And why should we subsidize the paupers from PCB and BCB? Link to comment
