That was the time to give younger players the experience so that they were not totally green coming into a big tourno. Once Yuvraj was picked vs England, everyone knew he was going to be playing CT. This squad was always going to read like this. It was against England and NZ that the likes of Hooda (potential successor to Yuvraj) Pant , even Manish should have been given more matches This. We can't just pick Pant for the CT and then go back to oldies after the CT again. They should have been played in all the IDIs in the home series against ENG and NZ. express bowling and Ultimate_Game 2
Nikhil_cric Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Yuvraj Singh is finished as an international cricketer. His choke in the final against Lanka in WT20 2014 cost us an ICC tournament and that should have been the end of his career. One ton against a mediocre English attack doesn't change a thing! How he played two ICC tournaments after 2014 is beyond me! Ultimate_Game 1

All this Pant is too valuable a player to be thrown in deep seas and oh he must play as a batsman are concerns for Dhoni and not Pant. Pant is not a makeshift keeper that both keeping and batting would be added responsibility. He is a specialist keeper and he has been doing both jobs till now. Its pretty clear why you have no problems for him as a batsman in the team but do not want him to keep.Being dhoni fan you cannot hide this. You know pretty well that if Pant is given both the jobs and he does a good job its curtain closed for dhoni. On the contrary if he plays as a batsman only and eventually takes over when dhoni feels like quitting having screwed many matches for us, you can gloat about how dhoni groomed Pant as a keeper just like you guys were doing for Smith with that guidance bullsheet. Honest question: You are OK to throw Pant into the sea as a batsman but not as a keeper batsman? Lmao. Yeah I wouldn't want to put the full load of a wkt keeper and batsman on Pant as a 19 year old. I would gradually bring him along the way Australia managed the transition from Healy to Gilchrist. The second part is that Kohli isn't there tactically as a captain in shorter formats and needs all the help he can get. We saw that in Eng series where he struggled to defend even a total of 370 odd. It's nothing to do with "Dhoni fans" or anything else. If someone tells me India will win the CT without Dhoni I say kick him out of the team ASAP. But I don't think that's the case.

Atleast you want him in the team. Thanks goodness.
