Proteas have to move on from ABDV as a captain. IMO DuPlessis is best suited to that role across all formats.

Why should they move on from him. ABDV is a victim of being very very good player who can do anything and fill any role.. Proteas have abused this guy, when there is no keeper make him the keeper, no finisher make this guy the finisher.

 

He is made to fill all the holes of this team.When he wants to stop the abuse and take a break from the abuse, people start questioning his integrity. he did not choke it was Faf who choked , it was his call which ran him ABDV out. He again proved it by running Miller out.This is not the first time he has run ABDV out.

 

It was Faf who choked even in semis of last world cup by batting too slow.If not ABDV's knock they would not even have made it close.Why is Faf getting rewarded for mediocre. ABDV should have been made captain of all formats from the beginning the morons from CSA chose Amla and screwed everything up.

When a player of ABDV's caliber desires to be captain and IMO he should have been made captain in all three formats.This nonsense that Faf is some great captain is ridiculous.Let him become first player worthy of his place.He was made captain and got into the team only because of ABDV injury.

If you had watched SA under Du Plessis and then immediately after under ABDV you would know. ABDV should be a good batsman but not a good captain similar to how Tendulkar was. It's not just about the India match but the whole tourney where SA were mostly clueless. When ABDV was away from the game and DuPlessis took over captaincy you could see the team was gelling and with ABDV's return it's almost feels like it's not a team.

 

DuPlessis may have become a captain by accident due to ABDV's injury but he's a much better captain and ABDV's stance about picking and choosing formats and matches doesn't look good for a leader.

Do you know what has transpired and why he has this stance of picking and choosing. If you play 106 tests in a row and are made to do all the things he was made to do.You also get disillusioned fast.AB captained two tests and one he lost and one he won that was when he was under injury cloud.

Whatever may be the reason, i.e. ABDV too long in the tooth or his body too fragile, the fact is he's not the best option for SA. And as you yourself mentioned that ABDV is not getting the support of his players. Do you know why? Coz ABDV has put himself above the team with his decision to pick and choose formats and series. Players can see that and do feel resentment. You simply have to look at SA under DuPlessis and ABDV and the difference is palpable. No matter what the reason, ABDV has lost the team and DuPlessis is best suited for the role else it will be more of the same.

He is entitled to it and just due to public pressure he quit test captaincy.Let FaF do something with bat first then talk about captaincy.Him being made T20 captain was a joke in first place.

I don't care about their age. I only see that Faf is available for all the matches and series while ABDV is not. The pre-requisite for captaincy is not who's the best batsman as I stated earlier while giving the Tendulkar example. He is generating loyalty from his players including FAF himself and coaches.It is just past certified chokers like Prince,Graeme Smith and Wessels are putting pressure on  this guy.

 

If anyone calls this as a choke have no understanding what choking is, Pakistan match SA were going to win it if went full distance and India match they got outplayed it happens. Indians lost to SL too.It is unfortunate that this guy is made to carry the baggage of all past SA chokers.

true if Ind loose to Eng or Aus it wont be a choke, but if they loose from a winning position to Sl it will be. SA did choke against pak.
