Number Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Choke is when top ranked side lose to a sorry a*s 8th ranked team. Ultimate_Game, sarcastic, Adi_91 and 2 others 5

Hell Raiser Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Yes they choke, otherwise how can you loose to a pathetic 8th ranked team. Adi_91, speedheat and Laaloo 3

Jimmy Cliff Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 They're getting all the choke-jobs out of their system before the 2019 WC.
jalebi_bhai Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 There is some underlying tension in their camp. AB is probably done as skipper after this debacle.

SRT100 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Seriously this is a choke of massive magnitude. For the imbeciles that dont understand what a choke is, I will explain it. SA could have still lost the match and not considered to have choked if they pushed India or scored say around 300 or a par score for the ground. However the fact they got bowled out inside 50 overs for u200 and then failed to take wickets at regular crucial intervals against India, they choked. It was yet another embarrassing and humiliating loss. The run outs exacerbated their choking credentials. Its that simple.
rkt.india Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Choke word is now used a bit to often and casually. How it is a choke?

Choke is when you are in a winning position and expected to win and then lose. SA did choke against Pak as all expected them win but against India, it was not the case. India choked against SL as most expected us to win.
CoverDrive Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Choke or not they just mentally disintegrated once again. Panic just set it quickly and it was all over. Usually there is some kind of fightback from the lower order but they just folded up badly. They started so meekly. Free flowing player like Dekock was playing so timidly. Amla for all his class could not assert himself. ABD was looking very good but then was panicked. SRT100 1
Sonix768 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 ABD should quit captaincy for the starters. And to think, he said "He is the best captain and he'll win the WC for SA " and such non sense.. If you think you are the best you have show it on the field not in PCs. And he has to stop this pick-choose matches to play. It will create lo of instability in the dressing room. He has to play more test now to improve his defense. And SA should play more tri-series kind of things instead of bilateral series, like they did last year with WI and Aus (No surprise there, they even lost to WI and failed to qualify for the finals). It will be a good practice at least.

You dont understand what the term means!? When you get bowled out for u200 in a final and have history of failing to produce, then yes this is a choke. If India had won, with SA scoring a par score, then no its not a choke. This is a choke. Ultimate_Game 1

Its a massive choke. Their bowlers even failed to penetrate and cause and scoreboard pressure as well.

Hence ranked Num.1 They are good outside ICC tournaments because most teams don't play their best team in bilaterals, teams rest their players, try out different combination, that's the reason aussie lost to saffers 5-0 Ultimate_Game 1
kira Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Those runnouts though, what the hell were they doing? especially the miller runout and the last runout
cric_fan Posted June 12, 2017 Author Posted June 12, 2017 Faf has taken responsibility for both runouts

Faf is the one guy who's anywhere close to clutch in that team. And those 2 runouts showed that he too, caved under pressure. Happens to everybody. I truly believe that SA would have done better in WC 2015 and also here, if Faf was Captain. AB is a phattu captain, and a phattu player. His poor captaincy and selfishness in clinging to captaincy is costing the Proteas dear. Ultimate_Game 1
