IMO, inspiration and role models dont work that way. If you look for anecdotal evidence for inspiration, you will rarely be able to prove anyone's credentials as a role model except people around you, who have done above average things. People like Sachin have achieved so much that its almost impossible to emulate their achievements. But its his qualities which are inspirational. It is Sachin's humility in the face of his success and how he still enjoys the game of cricket after playing for 21 years/ If you ask me for anecdotal evidence for how I have applied this, then I must confess I wont be able to come up with much, but if I am ever close to his success, I'll surely remember the humility with which he handles it all. The second point is much easier to follow - enjoying what we do is very very important. I once quit my job just because I wasnt having fun and not looking forward to go to work every day - I am not sure if it qualifies as anecdotal evidence but for me it comes pretty close

And father is inspired too. He does fees good that his kid or some kids considers him role model... Building is a respectable profession and can be taken... Yes.. People like Tendulkar do inspire us. Its just that Ganeshran or me doesnt know how to measure it. Most of Indian team and guys playing for IPL have got inpiration from Goddy. In my day today life Goddy brings that smile just because some inning of his comes to my mind while driving back after stressed work. For me thats good enough..... It makes me feel that even though I aint as good as some other guy there is no reason that my child wont be best.

Now its over. :(( Only have the Sachin bhakts to troll. Guaranteed response in an agitated state. :P Edit: Didn't go the place you mentioned. I got delayed and went to a place called Red Ants, near KFC off Link road Bandra. Bloody over priced and hopeless food. Drinks are over priced as if its a 5 star. Crappy service. OK interiors. Sad DJ. Cramped dance space. Avoid that place like plague. I never give bad reviews, but this place was plain horrible/pretentious. Funniest part: We were 5. The guy guides us to a table of 3 and asks us to accommodate. Then he says please. :D What is this? A local train?

He is at the peak of his profession - a reminder to everyone for the need to excel. I was talking about my own fallibility of not being at the peak of my profession yet and hence not being able to present the anecdotal evidence that you seek. But when I get there, Sachin also reminds me of the need to be humble in the face of success. It is a two pronged argument - inspiration to reach heights of excellence and being humble once you get there. As I said, the fact that Sachin still loves playing cricket and that is a huge contributor to his excellence. Without the love for cricket he simply wouldn't have able to been inspired to carry on for this long after achieving every accolade that a cricketer dreams of. The only thing egging him on is his love for the game. Without appreciating one's profession and having any emotional attachment to it, it is simply impossible to excel. The underachievers in most professions are the ones who treat their work as a mechanical chore - a necessity to make a living rather than having the enthusiasm to come to work for the love of it. This is what Sachin personifies to me.
