fineleg Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Who do you want to open with Sehwag in 2nd Inn? Pls. vote today/tomorrow before 2nd inn starts.
Cricketics Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 what's the urgency? :giggle: fineleg finaly has a hope that aussies gonna get bowled out early..
fineleg Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 Becos Pathan is quite good at #7 and he is capable of scoring 50+ there. So, we need not waste him at the top. VVS Laxman or Dravid can do the job. Lax is in decent touch, no?

Anakin Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Pathan, this guy will turn out to be a good all rounder
fineleg Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 Pathan' date=' this guy will turn out to be a good all rounder[/quote'] He already is quite good. He will give you a beautiful 50+ in 2nd Inn at #7. Lets not waste his batting talent by making him face a new ball attack at the opening.

bunny Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Can we please add Dhoni as an option? Imho, he should be the opener. He can't be any worse than Jaffer and he isn't contributing that much from the 5-down position. Pathan should bat 5-down. He got wasted as an opener.
fineleg Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 Varun/Mods - Can original poster get the option to edit the poll options at later time after creating the thread?
chanakya Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Sachin. With the kind of form he is in it won't matter if the ball is old or new. Or Pathan or Ganguly or Dravid. All depends upon when we are bating in the second innings. If the pitch has detoriated badly then save Dravid and Laxman from opening.
talksport Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Question for you guys: When was the last time India changed openers between innings and what is the lesson learnt
bunny Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Question for you guys: When was the last time India changed openers between innings and what is the lesson learnt I think Capetown. But, the problem there was that the opener succeeded in the 1st innings and the 4-down player (VS) had succeeded as well. So it was really a stupid move. Here, if MSD doesn't succeed (he already has had a dropped chance) and given that IP also hasn't succeeded (as also that MJ likes bowling to left-handers) it wouldn't be a bad move. Obviously SG, SRT and VVS shouldn't open. No way. That's a sureshot recipe for disaster.
Sachinism Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 id stick with pathan at the top he was looking pretty good, got out to a pretty good delivery, so give him another chance
Anakin Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 IKP should be persisted as an opener for some time.
living Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 It wont be pathan. After bowling his overs, there's no way in hell AK is going to make IKP open
Dinx - the Jinx Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 this poll itself is stupid... there is no need to change the opening combination. india's second innings wud begin either on the 3rd day evening after tea or on 4th day before lunch and we'll be going after the bowling to put up a big 4th innings target, which requires a big push frm the begining... aussie bowlers will be looking to restrict than taking wickets.. so i think pathan along with sehwag can give us that quick start... even if he fails.. the mddle order can still do the job...
kooljatt Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Becos Pathan is quite good at #7 and he is capable of scoring 50+ there. So, we need not waste him at the top. VVS Laxman or Dravid can do the job. Lax is in decent touch, no? :hatsoff:I agree with u ...we should open with dravid..and play vvs at 3...pathan's contribution at no 7 is pretty vital...opening with pathan is going back to chappel ways and putting extra pressure on pathan and ruining his bowling:nervous:
coffee_rules Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Open with RD. LAxman at #3, Let Pathan follow Dhoni so that Ganguly can play around with tthem for some late order runs.
