head coach
He is here to stay. He's got the ball swinging early which makes the openers unsettled from the beginning. This is the reason the innings shifted towards India. This guy knows how to bat, bowl and field. He is here to stay in Test Cricket! :two_thumbs_up: Link to comment
SachDan
When that red cherry swings, like it did today..he's one of the best in the world. Link to comment
msb1991
I think that he needs to get out of the disillusionment that his bouncer threatens anyone. Pathan should look to pitch 9/10 of all his balls on a full length and allow it to swing. He is easy pickings when he drops it short. I heard that Akram coached him on the 4th and 5th days of the Sydney Test, could this be a reason for his improvement in bowling? The action looked different to me, lying in my bed at 5am in the morning, but I may have just been imagining the change. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Its only one test on a pacey wicket. Dont get carried away folks. One thing I can say his batting really boosts the line up. If he bats for 1 hour tommorow it will make our batting line up look massive to the aussies Link to comment
Gambit
Oh please. All he got was 2 wickets, that too in his first spell, when he is at his most dangerous. Let him atleast get a 4fer or a 5fer against a decent team before we make such proclamations. Link to comment
PaiN_KiLLeR
he is still nowhere near the bowler he was in the 2004 tour of pakistan. but atleast he is on the way up.. Link to comment
Sachinism
when there isnt swing pathan does look very ordinary Link to comment
head coach
You dont need 5 wickets and 5 Tests to prove your mettle. Only few balls bowled with rhythm and swing can prove it. yes this guy is here to stay! Link to comment
Sooda
He is never going to be a guy who can rip thorugh lineups- highly unlikely anyway. But very handy with the enw ball and a genuine all rounder in the making, best thing thru the match has been his pace. Consistently 130+ Link to comment
ranj
In terms of potency, he's still a work in progress, but now he's one heading in the right direction. The best thing about Pathan is the fact that he wants to be there. Desperately. It's a point that's hard to overstate. Link to comment
Dhondy
So who would you guys drop when Sreesanth and Zaheer come back? Who should make way, if at all? Answer that, if you can. Link to comment
ranj
I wouldnt worry about that. 4 Indian pacers being fully fit at the same time is about as likely as a Spearmint Rhinos in Saudi. Link to comment

living
Still long way to go for Pathan. I would only consider him, if we are playing 4 bowlers in a test which we need to draw, of if we are playing 5 bowlers. Link to comment
talksport
Pathan Should do a Hoggard !!! IMO Pathan still is not yet a Finished Test Match Bowling material... I feel he is in the mould of Hoggard who used to be effective only when there is Swing for most of his career till 2 years back. Hoggards transformation from just being a swing bowler to a spearhead is phenomenal. He knows his limitations and worked very hard. He troubled the likes of Tendulkar, Dravid in Indian Pitches , a commendable performance and lead the English attack. Just like Hoggard Patahn should do what he has done... Should increase his speed of his Bowling a notch ( Pathan easily used to touch 85mph at his peak) Should work on his Bouncer and effectively using it.... Should work on his Yorker .... Should work on his Slow Ball ... And of course work on his consistency ..... Also India should drop Pathan for Adelaide if there is a choice , considering a) Adelaide being the Flattest of Pitches in Lords mould b) Bully boy Hayden returning. He wont be a walking wicket like Rogers. Could easily break Pathans confidence on this Pitch. And Pathan should continue to work with Venkatesh Prasad , MRF Foundation, First Class Cricket & ODIs , taking confidence from his performances in Perth and Bangalore. Link to comment
Sachinism
he has a decent slower ball, which he uses in ODI's pretty well remember when he 1st came onto the scene, them reverse swinging yorkers he used to bowl Link to comment

Most of all he needs to work on consistency and incutters to left hand batsmen and also inswingers (+ outcutters) to right hand batsmen. It was very surprising that he almost bowled no incutter to Hussey. Link to comment

The only thing IP has shown is that he has rediscovered some of his swing back which itself wasn't enough for him to be considered a test class bowler. He has a LOT to do to become a bowler of the class of Hoggard. Link to comment
The Outsider
As good as his performance was it is worrisome that all 5 wickets he took came with the new ball. He has a lot of work to do in order to become a good test bowler. Link to comment
