Fanatical - No

Enjoyed the game while growing. Also played it for a long time till college.

Currently will watch it some as times permits and now it is my second favorite sport.

Growing up hockey was at par with cricket but cricket did better maketing.

Could never understood the concept of a game that goes on for 5 days. Will never watch a test match ever again.

When in school (West Bengal) cricket was a rarity. Everyone would play football during PT hours and after/before school. Hardly 5% would play cricket and by the time we entered class 9 not a single kid in my batch played cricket, those budding cricketers switched to TT/badminton. And tbh cricket isn't as fun as football/TT/badminton/chess/carrom etc because most of the players idle away 90% of the time in a cricket match, in other sports you are actively involved. Now when I see my school friends on FB most of them have become cricket fanatics, albeit some are still passionate about Mohun Bagan and East Bengal. But it is unthinkable for me because when they were kids they never spent 1 PT class playing cricket, it was all football back then.

Define fanatical. Indians are laid back about cricket and sports in general.

In usa people go crazy over  high school and college football/basketball and in india their are international test matches with only a hand full of people in the stands.

And in domestic cricket ranji trophy matches are so poorly attended you got motorist driving through the fields trying to get a shortcut.

Desis are good at picking or choosing things up, if you place jalabi, laddu, barfi, pedha or petha in front of them they 'll choose sweetest mithai out of all. :phehe:

Barfi is the King.
