maggot_brain Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Haven't seen a thread discussing this yet...who is going to replace Mr 600 wickets? Piyush Chawla, Amit Mishra? Saw Chawla in the ODI series in England and he seemed alright but he's still a teenager. Never seen anything of Mishra. How good's this guy? At the moment Kumble looks irreplaceable to me.
IndianRenegade Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 The funny thing is no one sees harbhajan as his replacement! or are you talking about Leg Spinners alone?
The Outsider Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Chawla is too young and inexperienced to be a serious threat at international level. I would give Amit Mishra a run before him. Mishra would also help his cause if he moved from Harayana to a stronger team so he can play in the elite division.
Cricketics Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 and just before going and start picking youngsterz, we should also not ignore Murali Karthik, he should be given more chances...

maggot_brain Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 The funny thing is no one sees harbhajan as his replacement! or are you talking about Leg Spinners alone? He's been crap for ages now. But yes, we do need a frontline leg-spinner.
bunny Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Who cares? Let's win 4-5 series on a trot and give the top-placed Aussies a mighty scare.
Ram Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 What will happen when Kumble retires ? hmmmmm..... Three words - We're screwed !
Grim Reaper Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 When Kumble retires we are surely screwed. I haven't seen anyone yet that can be a true replacement. Hoepfully we'll be blessed with one soon because we sure as hell need it.

You can expect to see a few more bouncy pitches to come up a la Mohali. In a way Kumble's retirement might change Indian bowling strategy completely.
Sachinism Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 india are known for spinners, but i dont see any really good spinners coming up there are a few decent ones, but no1 that looks threatening
