What options we have? Saudis will probably compensate us in $$$. Our relationship with Saudis will define our relationship with Afghani Taliban.
BTW Russian are not very far if too much of America enters in Taliban

Also Don’t be naive. :giggle:India Iran trade, which is mostly undeclared will continue to significantly increase. Afghan trade are just mask and biproduct.
I get your point on indo Iran trade as long as the theif next door is kept in check it's fine becoz the theif will always find way to steal others property by illegal ways so need to keep that in mind

Would prefer a good trade on the rise is made with israel as feel that is the prototype country which India should follow in the future for its survival when surrounded by theif

Surely you jest. a country the size of Jodhpur district and having population half of Kolkata, is the 'prototype to follow' for the world's most diverse and ( soon to be) the most populous nation ?!?

Its like asking a star to behave like a planet....

Its not the size which matters as we are in a technological world where, a country like Saudi which is 100 times bigger and 1000 times richer cannot/will/can'nt do anything on a country which is of the size of Riyadh

size matters in terms of policy. Your comment was to do with policy, not active warfare. Saudis are only 2x the size of Israel and 10-15 million more people. They are in the same ballpark. India is not.

INdia's only comparables in terms of policy complexity are USA & China.

See the difference between Saudi and Israel and who dominates, also need to take into account there are other countries which are hostile to Israel, in which it has to protect itself and their policy in which they have taken care of themselves proves the point they will sustain any attack how much big alliance and size which attacks them.

Based on Policy of China - it has some kind of dictatorship, which India am confident will cannot and will not allow (Example: Xinjhiang Uighur)

USA Policy - They have a dominant force in the world with all of its hi-tech aircraft and dollar value, which the world see's and there is a huge difference in what happened with 26/11 and 9/11 they are poles apart, the instigator for 9/11 been given ticket, and for 26/11 you know it better.

yes. however, we cannot and should not look to model ourselves over far simpler scenario nations like Israel. that is my point. Outside of how to tighten the border, some defence tech. and do secret missions, Israel cannot teach us anything useful.

Mulo bhai, you are going tangential. @straight_drive Is mentioning india to adapt similar path as that if Israel when it comes to defence manufacturing and dealing with terrorists. For them is Palestine, for us it’s Pakistan.

Our co-operation with Israel and trade with Iran should go parallel, kudos to Israel and their jewish population which kept patience despite so many official snubs by previous governments. Probably they knew, one day India and Indians will smell the coffee(what terror really is).

Ok i suppose i misunderstood then.

Being friends with Iran and Israel both in the long term, isn't gonna work IMO. Sooner or later, we'll have to pick. Its like trying to be friends with a divorcing couple who have a property dispute/custody battle brewing. Sooner or later, you can only be friends with 1 or end up being friends with neither.

^ Thats too simplistic. For ages we followed that policy but Modi called the bluff. He became friends with Iran, Qatar, UAE, Saudis and Israel. How, By keeping interest separate.

Just to sweeten the relationship, Iran and India has common enemy. Pakistan.

Yes, as i said, for NOW, Modi's plan works and thats the optimal course. But unless Iran undergoes a liberal revolution and throws out the mullahs (they are the most likely in the middle east IMO, after the Lebanese, to do so), Iran and Israel are at long term logger-heads/path to conflict.

Especially since Iran-KSA are in direct antagonistic competition over the ME and KSA-Israel have a 'ignore each other' policy in place due to Uncle Sam.

One day, maybe 20-30 years down the road, will come a day where Iran and Israel are at direct loggerheads and we have to pick one over the other.
