Prithvi Shaw will find it very difficult outside asia with his initial movement which backs away from line of ball. I had to go watch his domestic videos to notice what Simon Doull pointed out.

I am amazed that he gotten so far with initial movement which takes him away from the ball, exactly opposite of all test GOAT's. He might get away with it because he is young and has fast reflexes to deal with domestic bowlers on Indian pitches.

His Coach is perhaps the best technicians of the game the country has ever seen. Dravid will have known what works for the kid rather than try and turn him another 'mcc manual' clone! India has an opening slot available in both ODIs and Tests. Lets start with the ODIs and see how the boy responds. Kohli debuted when he was 19 as well. Prithvi will be a much better player than NoH!t, and will hopefully have a more productive career than one based on milking scores against minnows for longevity!

I wouldn't be sure about that. He would have to change it himself and coach can only help, it would only happen after he starts failing outside Asia. No coach is going to ask him to change when he is doing fine, Dravid would definitely not ask him to change for a 1 day world cup tournament.

The talk of MCC manual started recently, due to likes of Steve Smith and Amla, who actually get way more than inline of the ball and had terrific results. This kid doesn't fit both techniques, he has more in common with tail enders who back off from the wicket to take a swing at the ball.

This change in trigger is really really minor thing . Technically the way he executes shots is great . Has great shot selection and fantastic eye and hands. Superb talent

to modify his trigger to a minor back and across won’t take long . Maybe a month working on this every day , will become normal to him very quick . Batsman constantly evolving and changing technique through whiole career . He will evelove

Both Shubham and Prithvi cannot and shouldn't be fast tracked. Only talented pace bowlers can be fast tracked because they learn zero in domestics anyway and Indian team is always desperate for good  pace bowlers.

Naturally gifted batsmen have nothing to learn from domestic as well. Certain players always pile up runs in domestic.  Ramprakash, Hick our own Lamba, WV Raman, Lalchand Rajput.  Our domestic bowling is really poor. In one team they have at best two good bowlers. Worst case just one bowler. You just see them off and bash the others.

I agree, Shaw can replace NoH!t. The team loses nothing as the only opener who contributes is Dhawan. Shaw and Dhawan will be the perfect combo, one wise senior and an attacking newbie at the other end.

NoH!t ghanta kuch ukhadeega.....He failed in both Champions trophies in England! Apart from a couple of 50s against minnows he was a walking wicket in every game. Dhawan's form saved NoH!t's head on both occasions. Why carry this overrated deadwood around what benefit will it be for the team?!

Please selectors....pleaaaseee!

Shaw's  trigger movement while playing pacers is rather uncommon and many would say that it makes things more difficult for him in some ways.

He drags his back foot outside the leg stump before the ball is delivered ... as if he is trying to play inside out.  This makes it more difficult to reach channel deliveries and reduces the idea of one's off stump position.  Shaw is frequently seen playing and missing channel deliveries. Tackling round the wicket short balls maybe more difficult too.

P.S -  I am a great supporter of unorthodox techniques if they are yielding consistent results.  Steve Smith, Jasprit Bumrah , Sehwag are great examples.

Shaw may turn out to be such a player too... and the rest of his game looks very good.

quite true. he does have these limitations. would also add chanderpaul to this list.
