If they had telecast it for TN to see, everyone from all over the state would have assembled in Chennai and put the chappal garland over periyar and driven him out of the assembly. There were many articles written in English and people were illiterate back then. Moreover, the people in Chennai is from all over TN and South of AP, and Keralites looking to make ends meet. They would have protested peacefully even if they had known. But boy if you do that sh1t in Madurai or any small town, he would be lucky to not get decapitated. I'm coming to know more about Periyar due to the internet. It seems he said Tamil was a wild man's language. They were not very different from Kanchi mutt periyava who said that Tamil was a neecha basha. Not to say sh1t about our neighbors but those who couldnt make it in their homeland coming to my state and doing this is horrible. chief Karunanidhi was a self proclaimed atheist but when under the jaws of death (several times) put trust in god. Bad karma is catching up with him and he knows. https://www.outlookindia.com/magazine/story/iconoclast-or-lost-idol/225173 http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/The-atheist-and-the-saint/article14982525.ece Just a cursory google search threw up these 2 pieces which say Periyar and his followers burnt Ram posters and destroyed Ganesh statues. Many more such articles if you are interested. Also every now and then I see news/videos of DK and other Tamil Nationalist Outfits disrespecting Hindu Gods. Also a few photos of extremist Tamils putting foot on idols and other such nonsense, not posting here because it is very disrespectful.

When he was in DK, he never stood in elections and most of his exploits are only heard not seen. Lol at the last pic, the "protestors" are in some deserted street (probably made that way) full of police protection. Imagine a street thats not crowded. Looks like a photo op session. And Ram is not worshipped in this neck of the woods. The real thing starts when Siva or Murugan is insulted. In Chennai, there used to be riots every year when Ganesh idols went through Muslim areas during Vinayaga Chaturthi in the 90s. Not so much now. You make up your mind whether Muslims have grown up to be mature or beaten in the riots so much that they dont bother now. Seeman got so much sh1t for insulting Siva that now he is saying "when did I say that Siva is not god. He is Tamils first God. I wouldnt deny him".
