Ram
Uthappa is testing his luck and the strength of his place in the Indian team. The team understands that, for the position he comes into bat, its very hard to have a string of good scores and lower middle order batsman are generally given more leeway interms of number of failures, but its been a while since Uthappa made a meaty contribution. Its now thrice in this series alone ( in the 20/20 match, in the first match against Aus which was washed out and now, this match) that he has failed. A specialist batsman should do better than that. The Outsider
Were the tail ever going to last? No! Therefore' date=' he had to try and get the runs asap.[/quote'] Why not? The same tail has added hundreds of runs in the company of batsmen over the last few months. Link to comment
Ram
I was definitely hoping Uthappa would come in at no.3. It would have been a really good chance to see what he has to offer in Australian conditions against good bowlers. He is a talented striker, he will win us matches, but he needs a solid middle order. Dont forget, in the home series against Aus, he was one of few batsman who even looked capable of hitting the Aussie bowlers. This is the problem with batting at no.7. You come in at really hard situations to bat and are expected to succeed. Lower order batsman dont have the luxury of getting their eye in and yet are called upon to score important runs. Mr. Wicket
In the home series against Aus on such placid pitches, most batsmen would look capable of hitting the Australian bowlers late in the innings/when the ball had softened. Link to comment
Sachinism
uthappa should have been promoted to 3 instead of pathan give him an opportunity to prove himself at the top, since he keeps failing at the bottom Link to comment
head coach
The guy is a great addition to Indian team. Stop criticizing players if they fail and stop praising them if they hit a 50. Every player has his day. Uthappa was trying for a win but didn't succeed that doesn't mean he is incapable of doing it. Even Superman Sachin failed why blame Uthappa then! Link to comment
