punjabi_khota Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Didn't any body use the "nadi ya pahaad " method ? Instead of a coin, we would throw the bat in the air. It would either land with flat side on the top (nadi) or the other side(pahaad). :rotfl:

The Dark Horse Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 1.In or out with a small stone 2. One guy should bend down and another will show no. of fingers behind his back 3. mountain or flat side of a rock 4. sa boo three:hysterical: 5. winners 1st Mostly if we bat 1st, after getting out I'll tell some reason like "mom is calling or i've to drink water", etc and avoid fieldng in the sun :giggle:

vamos_rafa Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Rang chit....tip tap toe... Another one was Even or odd....Once captian would take out a note and would ask "Last se 3rd number even ya odd?.. and we had to take a guess. One more thing which is quite prevalent in gully cricket is winning the toss means a license to bat first. And I was always pretty unfortunate with tosses. So after losing another toss I would say "Aaj hum pahle bowling kar rahe hai"... but it was fun man.. specially in Delhi where you gets huge grounds to play....
vamos_rafa Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Did MSD win toss with any of these methods? :hysterical: maybe he was used to winning the toss by these ways only that's why he finds the conventional toss too hot to handle.
akshayxyz Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 How do you determine which is closer if both are nearly equivalent? Is it decided by flipping a coin  Answer lies in your question (precision of measurement). Though it would be extremely rare. This is a standard way to 'toss' in billiards and its variants (rolling the ball to come closest to the baseline - rebounding off the opposite edge), and even though there people have more control over the ball - still tie is very rare. Also - golf can give you some hint on difficulty of this task. Anyway, one can always repeat until clear winner. Good thing about this method - it will be skill based, opening a "toss" specialist position in the team ;).
CSK Fan Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 we would either find one of the matchbox covers...and throw that in the air.. or get a flat rock...spit on one side of it...and throw it up...one guy calls either spit or no spit :hahaha: Did both of these and all the others mentioned in the thread. As for the ranking method, the first ranked used to bat first and the last used to bowl. The one who made the most runs would bat first the next time and the one who lost would bowl. And we wonder why we dont have more bowlers and so many batsmen :haha:
CSK Fan Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 2. One guy should bend down and another will show no. of fingers behind his back Have used this method, but why does the guy need to bend down? Are you sure the bend down part was not added by a perverted uncle or someone?
CSK Fan Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Quite popular yes. And this Toss is the most prone to cheating :haha: Sometimes its a really tiny pebble, and then close your fist and then swish it all over and flay arms over head, behind back etc and then you have to guess if the pebble is still within the closed fist. Most of the times they'll try to keep the pebble in and then drop it slyly AFTER the toss is called - depending on what was called :haha: A small pebble can easily be hidden between the index and the middle finger even when the palm is open. If the other person says out, you show him the pebble, if he says in, you surreptiously drop it. To counteract it one must always hold his hand under the person who is tossing
The Dark Horse Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Have used this method' date=' but why does the guy need to bend down? Are you sure the bend down part was not added by a perverted uncle or someone?[/quote'] Only if he bends down he'll be able to see the shadow of the fingers:giggle:
