mhr123 Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Certainly Viru ... We can play one bowler less against Aussies.. Dadaji giving way to viru.
talksport Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Without blink of eye anybody but Sehwag .....atleast for 12 - 18 months
eternalhope Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Only Uthappa. We should go with the same side as against SL in the last league match with just one change SS replacing Munaf.
Ram Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I will open with Sachin and Uthappa. It simply does NOT make sense to drop Sehwag for a game, pick, drop him again and pick him again. That is just nonsensical selection. The only way we are going play 7 specialist batsman is if the track is an absolute belter for batting. If that be the case, it doesnt matter if we go with 4 or 5 batsman, Aussies will score anyway. I doubt if Sehwag will make it into the eleven for the finals.
diegovegaz Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 uthappa is more consistent than sehwag, he will get the nod, sehwag will be made to warm the benches sehwag has done well in crucial situations, i wonder if he will be considered??
coffee_rules Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Uthappa is a slogger. He is not good for top order. He will be very useful at #6 or #7 down. He is good to whack the ball hard when there is no swing or seam. I hope he doesn't open again. Get Gambir to open if Sehwag is dropped. But I hate 5 bowler theory, esp against Aus. I am pretty sure we will play 7 batsmen against Aus.
suraj Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I don't like Uthapa's technique and just can't fathom how he will turn out to be a good long term prospect Having said that VS is even more of a closed book for ODIs- he has done nothing useful for a long time in ODIs so prolly Uthapa deserves a chance ahead of him in te long run we do need to find a solution for a steady opener
sandeep Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 both. Sehwag shouldn't open send him in at #4.
fineleg Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 In the end, MSD dropped Sehwag for both the Finals. I think Sehwag may have played the same "50 run partnership" with individual score 20-25 like how RU played. But Sehwag can bowl 3-4 overs, while RU is a better fielder. Batting wise they are the same in ODIs.
