More... Bangladesh v SA, 2nd Test, Chittagong, 1st day Peterson in as South Africa bat The Bulletin by Jamie Alter February 29, 2008 Toss South Africa elected to bat v Bangladesh Live scorecard and ball-by-ball details As is the custom for sides winning the toss in Chittagong, South Africa decided to make the most of batsmen-friendly conditions for the first three days before the pitch starts to turn. Graeme Smith, leading South Africa for a record 54th Test, found the pitch in Dhaka a bit odd and here he opted to avoid batting fourth on a deteriorating surface. Most sides that come to Chittagong normally employ the use of two spinners but unlike Bangladesh, South Africa have played just one slow bowler. Robin Peterson, the left-arm spinner, replaces Johan Botha as the only change from the first Test. Having have axed veteran batsman and former captain Habibul Bashar, Bangladesh have brought in left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak to assist veteran Mohammad Rafique in his final international appearance for Bangladesh. Rafique is two shy of becoming the first Bangladesh bowler to take 100 Test wickets. Unlike the last Test played here, the weather should have no impact on the match. Sunny skies are expected for the duration of the match. South Africa lead the two-match series 1-0 after sealing a five-wicket victory in Dhaka. Teams: South Africa 1 Graeme Smith (capt), 2 Neil McKenzie, 3 Hashim Amla, 4 Jacques Kallis, 5 Ashwell Prince, 6 AB de Villiers, 7 Mark Boucher (wk), 8 Robin Peterson, 9 Morne Morkel, 10 Makhaya Ntini, 11 Dale Steyn. Bangladesh 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Junaid Siddique, 3 Shahriar Nafees, 4 Mohammad Ashraful (capt), 5 Aftab Ahmed, 6 Shakib Al Hasan, 7 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 8 Mashrafe Mortaza, 9 Abdur Razzak, 10 Mohammad Rafique, 11 Shahadat Hossain. Cricketics
Laraz record under threat??? as soon as someone reaches 200 mark, it alwayz feel like that this guy might just end up breaking lara's record... the game of that certain player seemz to be so solid that it makez u think so. now Graeme Smith who has been out of form off late, seem to have found the rite way of scoring runz against bangla.. is not out on 223.. long way to go to break laraz record, but i feel he might just break it tomorrow. what say? Lara did it after his team had got thrashed by the English bowlers in the previous tests they had played in that series. This will be again Bangla so not worth that much. PS - On International Cricket Captain 06 yesterday, Dravid scored 407* against SA. That felt nice. Link to comment
Desi Cartman
even if he scores 500 I dont think he will ever match the class of Lara. Lara scored against Eng where as Hayden scored his tripple ton against Zim , Smith against Bangers (if he gets there) Link to comment
