Look into the Mirror, Ian Chappel

Recommended Posts

Ian Chappel writes after India's world cup debacle:

At the moment he looks like a player trying to eke out a career; build on a glittering array of statistics. If he really is playing for that reason and not to help win as many matches as he can for India then he is wasting his time and should retire immediately. When you think that for a decade Brian Lara and Tendulkar went head to head in a wonderful battle of stroke play to establish who was the best batsman in the world, they are now worlds apart in effectiveness. ........ .....If Tendulkar had found an honest mirror three years ago and asked the question; "Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the best batsman of all?" It would've answered; "Brian Charles Lara." If he asked that same mirror right now; "Mirror, mirror on the wall should I retire?" The answer would be; "Yes."
Now, right down under, at Australia's own den, facing the world's best team Tendulkar has single Handedly put India at a platform from which they can push for victory, not once, but twice in a row, even though he was going through extreme Physical challenges. Facing the world's best bowler brett lee, he has managed to keep the young batting lineup from crumbling and at the same time made quick runs. Now its your time to look at the mirror chappel, "Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the best batsman of all?" It would've answered; SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR. If you asked that same mirror right now; "Mirror, mirror on the wall should sachin retire?" The answer would be; "HELL NO! ARE YOU JOKING?"

Egg on Ian Chappel's face Ian Chapell: Mirror Mirror on the wall, I had said Tendulkar should retire but he just handed the Indian Team their first CB series win. What will happen to me now? Mirror Mirror to Ian Chappel: You have egg on your face now. No one dares ask the Master to retire. You stupid mad ass. You should stop writing and commentating now for you have lost all your credebility. Everybody laughs on you everytime you have to interview Tendulkar after he wins a match for India. Your brother Mad Greg has also gone underground. You can do nothing but salute the Master.

haha nice this guy is seriously retarded...everytime a player hits a good shot....he is like "gee, he has a good bat there" wtff
No everytime an indian hits a good shot he always said what a great bat they must have. When an aussie hit a great shot it was always what a top shot, what power and timing. To Chappell:finger:

Clearly Sachin was struggling and I dare say his form down under has come as a surprise( a pleasant one) to even his most ardent fans. I would be interested in seeing how many fans here actually predicted the kind of series Sachin eventually had. If you go by criticism then you will have to open a thread everyday about the commentators who have criticized Sachin in past year or so. Ian Chappell remains a respected cricket commentator and like any human he has made bad calls, Sachin being a case in point.

Anyone who actually watches cricket would know it was not a surprise. SRT has looked good to better in every series from SAF, england, pak and then this one. It's only the biased ones who would rather stare at numbers without context that would think otherwise with of course the help of usual cra.p of accusing others of worshiping blindly.

Strange how those who are quick to judge how others "dont watch cricket" are the first ones to defend themselves as being accused of blind fan. How does one spell the word irony! :hysterical::hysterical: Any sane cricket fan knows Sachin was struggling, end of story.

Either you don't watch cricket or you're quite insane, you choose. Nobody denied SRT had a bad time (and of course only idiots wouldn't consider the circumstances which were contributing factors for that), but he played quite well in SAF and England, which by your logic was still under the bad patch. But anyways, it's upto you to keep your head in the sand. By some logic that has been used before (not only by you), SRT had yet another horrible series in OZ too.

:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: That has to be the greatest logic ever. Either you dont watch cricket or you are insane. How does it even add up??? :hysterical: Bet your IQ is same as the number of alphabets in your handle! :finger:

Course it was. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to say a batsman scoring @36 runs is struggling. But of course if you are blind-as-a-bat fan you will call it as "playing well". Two words for you - my ar$e.
