Dhoni Defends His Selection of Players..

I will have to disagree here. Yuvraj has been India's best player in LOI for past couple of years. Even if you argue he may not be the best he certainly ranks in top 3 so he deserves a spot. If your assertion is Yuvraj doesnt deserve a place in Test side then thats a fair argument but then you will have to question Kumble for that. .
The only reason why I made that comment was because it seemed to me that for a while Yuvraj didn't care whether he got out or not. He had lost that confidence that makes him so strong as a player. I do agree with you that he's been our best ODI player for a while now, but I was just saying that no one deserves a place unless they're ready to fight for it and fight to keep it as well. But I guess Dhoni had his reasons for supporting him.

What stupid, elitist comments to make! And the only that shows here is that niether have of you have played cricket at a competitive level.
DUH! Use your common sense for a change instead of always toying the party line and trying to be politically correct. No one is talking about "playing" cricket. We are referring to all the talk. And yes I have not played competitve cricket and even if you claim you have I am not buying it, cause most of what you post is BS.

huh ? Has your IQ dropped drastically since you woke up this morning ? When I point out to your statement about Dhoni's education, I am not being PC. I merely pointing out that you are displaying an elitist mentality. Its like sayig a judge is being Politcally correct for punishing the criminal.
And yes I have not played competitve cricket and even if you claim you have I am not buying it' date=' cause most of what you post is BS.[/quote'] Suit yourself with your own ultra-intelligent assessments of peoples. As long as it makes you happy, I suppose.

MM to MM "DUH. Exactly what I have been doing to others when they post something that I may disagree with. DUH!"

I detect a slight contradiction here. I just said its quite evident that you havent played cricket a competitive level and you yourself have admitted to that. Now, we only need Finey to confirm or oppose what I have said. Doesnt that mean my assessment, albeit not ultra-intelligent, is actually right ? And btw, MM to Yoda : " I am perfectly fine with people having opinions that dont agree with mine, as long as it makes logical sense"

You can agree or disagree with anyone's comments. That's what the board is for. Just stick to commenting on what folks have written instead of the their personal qualities.

Time spares no one. One day' date= Dhoni's time will come. Life is a bell curve.
Yes. Time will spare no one. Today its his time in the limelight, but it may not always be this way. I agree we can leave MSD's education aside. And Captain should have say in selection matterz. All that is fine. Just cut the MEDIA out of this and dont make these commentz, can he!?? Why the heck do you need to go to media with all this? Yes, they will ask questionz - thats what they are for, and he has shown in the past he can deflect media qns. He has done that before, Just do the same now!

And where in the world did I actually say " If you havent played competitive cricket, you have no right to voice your opinion ?" Please dont misquote me deliberately.

Again, what *personal quality* of yours, or for that matter, anyone else's have I commented upon ? And isnt it a bit ironical for you think its perfectly fine for you to comment on Dhoni's educational bg, while you take offense to me commenting on you being elitist.

Some day a cockier guy will come and kick this snakes teeth out and then rub his face in it ....... This guy can't be graceful in victory...I wonder how he will be once the bad times come.
I don't think he is insulting Gangs or Dravid. He is just saying that he was justified in asking for a younger team with no disrespect intended towards Gangs and Dravid.

The guy's lack of education does show. That said, all I care is wins.
I'd rather take an uneducated winner like Dhoni(BTW SRT hasn't even passed high school) over a mediocre cricketer with 3 degrees from Oxford.

Exactly. Glad you read my second sentence, or did you? :D And BTW, lack of education doesn't always show (ex: SRT).

This isnt as contraversial an interview as many comments in this thread make it out to be. Bottom line is that Dhoni is a winner. He has won a T20 world cup & the biggest and perhaps the toughest ODI triangular of contemporary cricket, all within one year of his captaincy. He is the blue eyed boy, the chosen one, as far as Indian captaincy is concerned. He is allowed to brag about his moves coming off. How many of us would not take pride in the 'I told you so' moments, when something we back comes off in a spectacular fashion ? Heck, many of our posters here start a prediction (all possible predictions, infact) and then brag about how they predicted the unpredictable. Dhoni took huge gambles, many unconventional ones & they all came off. Whether its luck or genius time will tell. He has shown that he is a very special leader of men. (Speaking of 'I told you so' moments, here is mine: I had predicted during the days of Dravid that Dhoni will make the best captain in the future. Genius, aint I ?) Dravid, Ganguly have had their fair time under the sun. They did deserve a farewell game, but were also guilty (esp in Ganguly's case) of not cooperating with our future plans. They should now, congratulate the juniors on their achievement & announce their retirement from ODI cricket. It will only serve them well, as it will help them lengthen their test careers.

It would be nice if for once he could keep his mouth shut and concentrate on the future. It would also be nice if he started scoring some runs in the Test format, which to remind some of u, is REAL cricket. So if he suceeds in Tests as a captain and also as a batsman, then maybe he can start being arrogant towards the media. And I would love to see his boys like Rohit Sharma in Tests, apparently he couldnt take the pressure from the Aussies in the ODI series, well how will be able to sustain himself over 5 days.
