cochise
Wow! That I would like. But how to say we deserve it after today's totally listless and lackadaisical showing? Batting was totally lacking urgency...like on a Sunday stroll, not pushing for a win...and our opening bowling was enough to demoralise even the next generation of Indian cricketers let alone the ones on the field. Very bad showing by India today to waste Sehwag's blitzkrieg yesterday that set things up for a victory. If they play even a little better than today, they will have a chance. First session is critical. If they can skittle 3-4 wickets, we can win. Hopefully, Kumble puts a rocket up the side and they come back with some gusto tomorrow. Today was entirely forgetable and RP may want to get hypnosis to expunge it from his memory completely. And Dravid must reflect also on his role in the loss of innings momentum in the first session. He put both Sehwag, Tendulkar and Ganguly to do the run scoring and play forcing shots to get out due to his attritional mode batting. It cost us badly. Link to comment
Gambit
cochise, HouMac in his post yesterday did say that in such situations, where the initiative to ensure a result needs to be taken, Indian batsmen/think tanks don't inspire confidence. That was on display again today. After Veeru got out, Dravid laboured his way to a 100 and bored everyone to death. He should have accelerated being the set batsman. Gangs was looking good but got out and then Laxman and Dhoni just plodded around. Our bats simply need to play a little more positively. Veeru doesn't deserve to have his thunderous triple to have come in a drawn game. We've seen this before(Oval '07, Cape Town '07, Bang '05). Having said that, I still think we are in for an exciting day. A wicket or two in the first hour will set the cat amongst the pigeons. Kallis and Prince will block and plod and succumb.
