That’s your inference. Why do they highlight caste and India when fighting domestic violence. As an NGO they should highlight the weaker not the stronger of the community. They are highlighting where DV is happening more .. among upper caste Hindu Indians. Are you a spokie for Equality Labs that you are defending them? Do you know their agenda and activism? This is not one tweet. They are a front for Dalit Christian organization whose sole purpose is to target caste based image of India and Indians in NA. They are calling themselves HR activists and trying gain relevance in the BLM movement. They are trending DalitLM and MuslimLM from India.

The tweet only tells that upper cast hindu women are taking the lead - which could be a fact as mentioned before that others may be feeling relatively more helpless to gather the courage.

India/Indians do consider castes. Dalits have been mistreated. If they want to speak up against it, I am ok with it. There is the Cisco matter for e.g.

We may love India and its traditions but that does not mean we try to gloss over the negatives. Words do not make India great.

^^Again, I don’t oppose none of that. I am talking about such sinister organizations which can’t be defended as doing good work.

I agree that to be credible as an organization, it should not be anti-anything but seek to fight injustice for every community. For e.g. if an organization is standing up for women and children, it should be just that w/o factoring in what the background of those it is trying to help is.

As for EL, I do not care for it but if someone gets helped by it inadvertently, I do not mind it.

South Asia is a region while india is a nationality

different regions can have many nationalities , who have similarities as well as some differences with each others

like eruope has france, germany italy, britian and so on

east asia has japan , china, korea

middle east have arabs, iranians , turks, egyptians , maghrebis

South Asia is much more common as a term since south asia essentially means two countries Pakistan and India , it doesnt have multiple strong nationalities like some other regions.

India and pakistan are also multiethnic countires with many ethnicites living side by side to each other who also have certain differences along with obvious similarities with each other

like tamils, punjabis, kashmitis , pashtuns , marathi, baloch , sindhi, bihari , malayali and so on

South Asia can be an innocent geographic categorization used in the social sciences.  However, it is notable that a lot of propaganda outfits who have a distinct bias and specific sub-interest in hostility towards India often use this moniker to camouflage their agenda.  This is what has created the backlash and 'negative' connotations associated with the term.

It's academic bias as well, as there is no actual "Indian" studies but rather "South Asian" studies. We get grouped with our neighbors, and so, our narrative, history, and culture is seen from their lenses and think-tanks.

Chinese, Japanese, Korean are very clear about their distinctiveness, and have their own agenda, narrative, studies. Whereas, we foolishly take pride as South Asians....
