goose Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 I have a lump of cash stuck in an NRO account in India. i want the funds to invest as i choose. i am based in the UK. apparently i need a Pan number to transfer the cash from india to uk. i do not have a Pan number - can i quickly get one? if i cannot get a Pan quick, a good alternative would be for me to open a share dealing account in india and transfer/invest the funds so money doesn't leave the india. but i guess most share dealing accounts will want a Pan too so maybe i'm f%xcked there too any recommendation on a user friendly share dealing platform in India? i want to access Indian and Canadian stocks. ideally someone here tells me how to get a pan number? thanks in advance
coffee_rules Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 I had used an online source to get a Pan# , took about 2 weeks. I have couple of NRO a/cs and have some MFs in India. Go through the government’s PAN site and get an official agent. All I had to do was send a passport size photo and copies of passport and address proof (DL)

I went through online search. Ok, now there is a government run site which is offering to take PAN card applications online for foreigners https://www.tin-nsdl.com/services/pan/pan-index.html Jump to the section: Application for allotment of New PAN (Form 49AA) – applicable for foreign citizens This form should be used when the applicant has never applied for a PAN or does not have PAN allotted to him. An applicant can visit Income Tax Department (ITD) website to find whether a PAN has been allotted to him or not. Edited September 7, 2020 by coffee_rules
